Tried the other day to make a figure similar to a canter pirouette, as he finds it easy to sit in one spot then, but on trot. Seems like worked. Some moments really kept himself on a spot. โฆ I was told by multiple trainers, by judges at competitions and by a 4* international judge that Secret would never learn flying changes. After the show they would tell me or my mom who worked as a steward or to my trainer that we should consider leaving Secret to the kids and getting a better horse.
Despite I hated they did this, it was obvious where they were coming from - the changes were terrible, when I just got him into work, he would literally run away from changes, he would not even change but speed so much, super scared, I could only guess what people did to him to become so. Later he started to change his front but his hind was either not changing at all or being late by 10-20 strides. It was also hard to make a downward transition after asking for a change. Heโd just shut down and not understand what youโre asking from him, trying to obey but in panic mode. So working on changes didnโt improve significantly for very long time. It took years of improving the basics until we got the single change, and still he would be late every now and then, and get speedy. It wasnโt until we started tempisโฆ part 2 next time!
