On this day, May 11, 1988, the Cabildo caught fire destroying the roof and most of the third floor. The rebuild was completed in 1994 and reopened to the public. 38 years later, we’re still standing strong! ⚜️

ARTIST TALK - POSTPONED, James Michalopoulos will be giving a rare lecture on his artistic style of Mystical Expressionism — an art movement which has been widely emulated throughout the South and beyond. This special event is part of the Michalopoulos: Mystical Expressionism exhibit — a yearlong celebration of New Orleans vernacular architecture, showcasing 75 paintings. and taking visitors on a colorful journey through New Orleans historic neighborhoods.
