Nobody says Dalits survived without water.
The question has always been: Were Dalits allowed to access the same public wells, pots, and water sources as everyone else without facing violence or humiliation?
History says otherwise.
ā¢ Indra Meghwal, a 9-year-old Dalit boy, was allegedly beaten after drinking from a school water pot.
ā¢ Bapurao Tajne dug a well after his wife was allegedly denied access to a village well.
ā¢ Dr. B. R. Ambedkar wrote in Waiting for a Visa about being denied water and facing untouchability even after returning from abroad as a highly educated officer.
The issue was never the existence of water. The issue was equal access to it with dignity.
Dismissing documented experiences of caste discrimination as āatrocity pornā doesnāt erase history, it only reveals a refusal to engage with it.

We cannot keep celebrating our ācultureā while ignoring the violence women face every single day. Respect for women is measured by their safety, dignity, and justice, not by slogans.
Enough outrage for one day. We need accountability, faster justice, better policing, and a society that refuses to normalize violence against women.

I genuinely donāt understand this decision.
Weāre talking about a foreign politician who has repeatedly made insulting remarks about India, whose administration was involved in decisions that led to the deaths of Indian sailors, and who continues to face widespread criticism over his support for Israelās military campaign in Gaza.
The Telangana government says this is about attracting foreign investment. But should investment really depend on naming our public spaces after sitting foreign politicians? If thatās the logic, it feels incredibly short-sighted.
What surprises me even more is that the Congress often criticises other parties for prioritising symbolism over governance. Yet this seems like the same kind of symbolic politics.

And while all this is happening, the alleged temple scam is under investigation. If leaders claim to be āunapologetic Sanatanis,ā people are entitled to ask why there is silence on allegations involving a temple.
Today itās Joseph. Tomorrow it could be anyone who asks uncomfortable questions.
Democracy survives criticism, not blind devotion.
