As a teacher, one thing I’m learning over and over again is this:
Children don’t learn well in survival mode.
When a child feels fearful, constantly shamed, or afraid to make mistakes, their brain focuses more on protection than learning.
But when children feel emotionally safe, a lot of great things can happen. Learning, trusting, achieving becomes easier with feeling safe.
I truly believe some of the most impactful parenting and teaching starts with helping children feel safe enough to be fully seen, heard, and supported ❤️

I think a lot of parenting and teaching starts with making people feel safe enough to be fully seen. I always say; connection over correction.
That’s something I’m learning more and more every day as a teacher and mom.

From volunteering in my kids’ school when I first arrived in Canada (2018) to graduating multiple times, starting an online school, and stepping into the classroom as a teacher.
This journey has been full of sacrifices, tears, small wins, and BIG milestones. 💪🏽❤️
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: it’s never too late to start over, and every step counts.

⭐️Church and Community: Our church is a cornerstone of our family life. We attend weekly, and the kids see us volunteer together. Our daughter is active with younger kids and in her school’s Black group and student council. We're finding opportunities for our son, too, and I volunteer in their school. We also spend time praying and in the word daily.

⭐️Language: We speak our language at home, and I run a language school at, which the kids are a part of. We value diversity and our heritage.

⭐️Challenges and Growth: Parenting tweens and teens come with challenges. Open communication, listening, and prayer are our anchors, and admitting when we don’t have all the answers builds trust.
