I’ve been thinking about this leopard-print dress I sewed for an evening out four years ago… inspired by Dior’s silhouettes (the first couture house to introduce leopard print in 1947) and by the irresistible charm of 1950s wiggle dresses.
A nod to the iconic images of Richard Avedon and Nina Leen - when elegance carried a touch of the wild.

Two years ago, I finished this apple-green crinoline dress — a true arsenic green, just as it was loved in the period.
The bodice was made using an authentic pattern gifted by a friend, complete with the double piping I absolutely loved working on.
I also looked for a more elaborate hairstyle, faithful to the style of the time… and I think everything came together beautifully.
To this day, it remains the creation I’m the most proud of in my historical costume work!
