Meet Booker Dean Bennett
born August 3 at 8:57 P.M. — 34 weeks and 6 days. When we heard him cry, we were overcome with relief and the reality that he was actually here finally set in. He was a whopping 6lbs and 10oz, a big little premie. He had to go straight to the NICU because of hospital protocol but never needed oxygen or an IV. He was released after spending the night there. He’s a little miracle, and we just feel so grateful for a smooth delivery. Thank you for all the words of encouragement and prayers! We feel beyond blessed, and our hearts are bursting at the seams with so much gratitude. The tears just won’t stop coming😭
Have you ever had news you want to shout from the rooftops, but also news you aren’t ready to share yet?

I sit down to write out our big announcement and I get stuck every single time. All of me wants to yell it to everyone, but part of me wants to keep it to ourselves until he’s safe in our arms.

Maybe because every time I planned to announce it, we had another miscarriage.

Maybe because of my fear that something bad may happen again.

Maybe because the PTSD I experienced last time I was in the hospital with my uterine rupture still has a strong hold on me.

Maybe because so many people and doctors told me I couldn’t and shouldn’t get pregnant again.

Those things have paralyzed my desire to share. But we’re here. Almost. 33 weeks and hospitalized until this baby arrives safely.

Losing our angel baby Hawkins, and then 2 miscarriages in a row, led us to this beautiful moment. 9 days away from our 35-week C-section and being carefully monitored.
He’s. Almost. Here.
Please send prayers that he will come safely and won’t need much NICU time. We can’t wait to hold our rainbow baby.
We were so hopeful for this rainbow baby. Bad things can’t happen to you 2 times in a row, right? Silly for thinking that. My husband reminded me of Job in the Bible. Lots of bad things happened to him all in a row. I don’t want my Instagram to turn into all grief because life can be oh so good. But grief is where I’m at, ya know? Can you meet me there again for a bit until I get my head on straight?

I was days away from announcing our sweet 12-week-old baby. The bump popped out a lot quicker this time around. I bought some maternity clothes and already had a list of boy and girl names scribbled in my journal. The pregnancy was already high risk and one that wasn’t going to be a breeze. But then, at my ultrasound I received the heartbreaking news, “We can’t find a heartbeat.” Gut-wrenching. It sounded weirdly familiar. My experience with Hawkins came rushing back and all the blood seemed to leave my body... “Not breathing…resuscitated…life-flighted.” So dang familiar.

I didn’t plan on sharing about our miscarriage because I don’t show up here much anymore, but I woke up feeling extra lonely and extra empty this morning. I thought maybe someone else is feeling empty too? I’m sorry if you’re struggling with loss or with motherhood or with friendship or struggling with anything, really.
Ask for help. Look for ways to raise each other up. There is no need to suffer in silence while so many people may be walking the same path as you. As I’ve learned from getting support from so many of you, others are very willing to show up and carry some of the burden! Let them!

Pivot, Lacy. His plans for us are once again different than the plans we had for ourselves. I don’t love His plan right now, but maybe one day I’ll see the big picture? All I ask is that I can learn something through all of this and find my way out of the tunnel a better person than before. But until then, I’ll just miss my baby and be lonely and sad just a little bit longer.
Thank you for all the kind words. It’s super intimidating putting myself out there again after Hawkins. I’ve never really feared rejection before, but my anxiety tells me not to do it. To not take risks. To not believe in myself. That I’ll probably fail. But I’m slowly working through it and little by little I’m telling those negative thoughts to shove it. ’s a supportive community of women like you guys who help heal some of those anxieties.

I’m super grateful for for giving me a chance to showcase their beautiful curtains. I might not have been the best designer to work with or the easiest choice, but they trusted me. They believed in me and my story. I don’t know if many companies would have taken that risk. Has anyone ever believed in you and taken that risk by choosing YOU? Even if you weren’t the “best” and most obvious person for the job? It’s the most empowering feeling in the world.I’m grateful to them for their beautiful products and wonderful team. Link in bio for more of their curtain options! (I chose the color birch in organic cotton)😊
Hi. Welcome to our fixer upper. Our living room is almost finished and I couldn’t be happier. We are still waiting on built ins and maybe a fireplace down the road, but I love where we are at! It’s so fun to turn a house into a home.

I’m so grateful to work with on the curtains for the finishing touches. They are such high quality material and they have a wonderful customer service team! I couldn’t be happier!
The year where we realized the little things are really the big things. #merrylatechristmas
“Counting blessings is better than recounting problems.”

I’m a little overwhelmed counting my blessings. There seems to be way too many to count. #givethanks #lacyselftimer
Hunter wanted to buy a house already finished. I wanted to build one. So we met in the middle and bought a house that had no floors and needed some renovations! (And we found a little mold along the way. See stories)😳Marriage is all about compromise, isn’t it? I’m so excited to share more of our 1994 Southern charmer in the woods with you! I am passionate about creating a beautiful, safe space where we can laugh together, cry together & overcome hard things as a family.

This home has rescued me in a way. And it’s not just about THINGS. It’s about creating. It’s about finding a passion for myself. When we are experiencing grief, it is so easy to lose track of ourselves. Have you experienced this? I think it’s so important to allow ourselves to find those things that brought us joy before….OR find new interests to write a new narrative for your life. Healthy distractions have made all the difference for me during this journey.

I’ve felt guilty for trying to find joy in all the things I used to love in the past. And now I know it’s OK. It’s OK for me to want to learn to navigate the world without my baby boy and to find happiness in the things I used to love. It has taken me 2 years and 4 months to get to this place, and maybe I’m not fully there yet, but I’m trying. And I’m finding some joy in it along the way. Thanks again for being here!
“You can’t have any more children.” Words have never cut so deep. Imagine hearing that after waking up from an emergency C-section. My baby was fighting for his life and now I can’t have more children. Loss after loss. The loss of the dream to have children seems too much to bear. But is it true? Can I really not have any more kids? It seemed like my doctor was talking about risk, not certainty. He can’t make that decision for us.

We decided to get a 2nd opinion. 3rd opinion. 4th opinion. All of them say that it’s possible. I would have to be closely monitored and have a C-section at 34 weeks and maybe be on bed rest…but it’s POSSIBLE. Is it risky? Yes. Could my uterus rupture again? Maybe. But would it be worth it? 100% YES! We feel like there is one more up there waiting to come to our family and we have the faith. But what if something happened to me or to our baby again? Would we be full of regrets and “I told you so’s” from people around us who have discouraged us from trying?

It’s so freaking complicated, guys.

Think of someone you love and evaluate the worth of his or her life. Were all the struggles you went through to get them here worth it? It makes you view the pregnancy that brought him or her into the world differently, doesn’t it? All the risk and pain seems so insignificant when you compare it to the worth of a child.

We have thought about fostering. We have considered adoption. We have prayed and researched surrogacy and I had a selfless friend offer to carry our baby for us. Those are all incredible options that we look forward to exploring more in the future. But all of them have risks as well. Motherhood is a risk because there is never a guarantee. No matter where our child comes from, or what they choose to do in life, we love. And anytime we love, we choose to risk.

There’s no guarantee that your child will come walking through the door after school. There’s no guarantee that they will be polite and nice when they are at a friends’ house. There’s no guarantee that they will stay out of prison or make it home by curfew. And yet, WE LOVE ON.

Motherhood is a risk bc there is so much to lose. But man, there is so much more to gain!
Have you ever bargained with God? Like really tried to talk Him into something during your hardest moment? I sure did. I held my baby boy in my arms and begged he would be healed. If he would be healed, I had all these promises and pacts to make with God. “Heavenly Father, if you’ll heal him, I promise to never yell at my kids again.” “If you can heal his brain, I’ll quit wasting time on Instagram and be present all the time.” “If Hawkins will be ok, I’ll never shop or gossip or blah blah blah ever again etc etc.” I begged with everything I’ve got.

Did I really think I could talk Him into something that wasn’t part of His plan?

In my head I knew that’s not how it works. Then I found out Hunter did the same exact thing. He knelt in prayer and promised to never hunt again or raise his voice, etc. sounds so silly now looking back, but when you’re in the midst of a trial, thinking straight is pretty much impossible. Have you experienced this?
“When we maneuver to make a deal with God, we are in essence saying that we know better than God.” I know we should be living our lives according to His will, not ours. He really does know best.I know it now more than ever and I have learned so much in my journey through grief. Man, grief is the best teacher.

My girlfriend asked me why it has been so hard showing up on Instagram lately. I think this is my answer. The pact I made with Him always fills my mind and my anxiety sky rockets because of it. It’s silly and irrational, I know. But I’m feeling more like myself and I’m maybe willing to put myself out there again. Thank you for continuing to check in on us...even after all this time! It still sometimes feels like yesterday to me❤️
