You start to ponder is it all in your mind, is it caused by the stress of having your life changed so drastically mixed with the ongoing pandemic. After months of struggling relapse after relapse they discover the critter, a sneaky parasite imbedded in your small intestine taking control of all your bodies synapses. The elation to know that you aren't going crazy, there is a cause for all these strange things happening to your body. Your self doubt fades as the doctor hands you some medicine that should assist you to take back control of your body. You give yourself some time as the buzzing wears off and the ground becomes solid. That's when I realize I am taking back control, to no longer be a stranger in my own body. Hopefully soon I can get back to being 100 percent me.

Me and this bike, which I never named, have done over 16,000km's together. She was put away in storage as I had no plans riding her as I was doing a different type of touring this year. However due to the global situation she is back out and getting a wee makeover and a few bits and bobs added to her. She's an amazing bike and great for the type of touring I can do in Europe once things calm down a bit.

I'm missing Naranjita and all my kit! luckily she's safe with a good friend in Santiago. My flight back to Chile was 3 days ago, I remember when I was rushing to get a flight to Holland I ended up booking a return as it was the same price as a one way. I tried to be optimistic and give myself 2-3 months in a hope that things would settle down. Although things seem to be settling down in Europe (fingers crossed we keep trending down), things are swiftly changing in South America. I have a feeling I won't be seeing Naranjita for a while longer, but my older Tout Terrain Tanami is getting a bit of life restored into it and some new toys. It is actually a much better bike for touring Europe, so as things continue trending down here and the lovely weather hitting our lands I'll look at shorter trips in Europe when the time is right.

Still one of the most beautifully designed roads in all my travels. Whether going up or coming down the cuesta caracol on the carretera austral it's a unique experience. When I knew I was going to be able to ride down it I made sure I hit the top around 7pm so I could enjoy the downhill at the perfect hour with the sun dropping behind Cerro Castillo. This up there with one of the most relaxing half an hours I've had on a bike, no pedalling and slow downhill riding enjoy quiet roads and epic views.

No matter the route there is always a way to do it easier or harder depending on a variety of factors. I tend to yearn for the easiest possible way to do things, because I'm not a masochist. I enjoy doing hard things but I'd rather wait for the right weather conditions, carry delicious food and take my time. I enjoy making the hard stuff as easy as possible but maybe that's just the smart way..

The soft earth crunched as my boots tried to find friction as I pushed my bike up the gradual gradient. It was a long push, a long day, but by a long way one of the most beautiful I've had in my life..

I try to take and send as many photos of other people as I can during a ride/journey even it sometimes takes a while people generally receive them;). However it's not often I receive many from other but when I do it's bloody amazing! These photos were not thought out nor anything but spur in the moment flash backs to what we were trying to achieve in the high altitudes of the Ausengate area. Thanks so much for taking and sending these through, can't say I miss losing/breaking everything on this trip but I do miss pushing my limits/eating such amazing food (all the chocolate) with you! Thanks for the memories some of my favorites on the bike.
