Sabrina McKenna’s impromptu comments at the recent dedication of the new Glade History Wall were a powerful echo of Margaret Mead’s most famous quote:

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Mahalo Sabrina, and most of all, Mahalo to the Glade Legends whose courage has indeed changed our world for the better!

Check out the Glade History Wall next time you're shopping at the Maunakea Marketplace in Honolulu Chinatown!
Last Thursday, there was a tremendous outpouring of support from the community to honor the Glade, not just as an iconic show club in Hawaiʻi's past, but as an enduring symbol of a community's resilience in challenging times, and an inspiration as we strive for a more inclusive and compassionate future ahead.

Mahalo to All who participated! And if you couldn’t join us, we hope you’ll stop by the Maunakea Marketplace next time you’re in Chinatown and enjoy the sights and sounds of legends on the Glade Memory Wall.

Special gratitude to for many of the photos 😍

We knew the day would come when the cast of The Return of Kapaemahu would take their final bow on the Kūhiō Beach Hula Mound, but we couldn’t have imagined that we’d be feeling the end of this year of weekly performances so deeply.

It has been a magical experience, and we plan to celebrate the inspiring healers and honor the ancient moʻolelo with a very special finale and tribute to the pohaku.

If you’re in Honolulu on January 28, please join us one last time under the banyan tree, cuz something’s up in Waikīkī!

Every once in a while, a single person has a profound impact on the trajectory of an epidemic, even though they are only faintly remembered by those who survived. As we gather on this World AIDS Day to reflect on lives lost, celebrate progress made, and renew our commitment to ending the epidemic, we honor the activism of Aaron Peak, who introduced needle exchange to Hawaiʻi during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis and helped to catalyze the first such state-approved program in the U.S.
