Have you ever heard of a CubeSat? 🛰️

CubeSats are a class of nanosatellites that offer a lower-cost option for schools and researchers to launch projects into space.

What began in 2024 as a “pie-in-the-sky” idea at Kansas State University has developed into two very feasible missions designed to detect crop health anomalies and space-verify new technologies.

Through the CubeSat project, K-State engineering students are gaining hands-on experience with satellite design, fabrication, research and eventually space launch.
THIRD PLACE OVERALL!!!
That's a wrap on Michigan 2026! After a year of countless hours of work, sleepless nights, overcoming challenges and competing with excellence, we ended MIS 2026 on the podium for the first time ever in team history!

Final results out of 117 teams:
- 3rd in Endurance
- 4th in Cost
- 5th in Autocross
- 11th in Design
- 12th in Acceleration
- 27th in Business
- 31st in Skidpad

This year brought a lot of new experiences with it, we made Design Finals for and we finished in the top 5 for Cost, both for the first time in team history!

We are SO hyped with this outcome, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of everyone involved with the team, our generous sponsors, and very understanding families and significant others. We are so proud of everyone and can’t wait to see what the 2026-2027 season brings our way!

Engineering meets leadership.

A couple of weeks ago, students in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering took part in E-LEAD, a hands-on leadership experience designed to help them stand out in their careers. Through team challenges, coaching and real-world case competitions, students practiced leading through complexity, navigating conflict and driving innovation. Along the way, they built the skills employers value most—adaptability, collaboration, systems thinking and the confidence to lead with impact.

A huge thank you to Evergy for their partnership in making this experience possible!

K-State’s Prosthetic Design Team, the university’s first biomedical engineering-focused design team, spent the past year designing, 3D printing and building Hermes (a walkable prosthetic leg) and Hercules (an advanced prosthetic hand) completely from the ground up.

Their passion, creativity and countless hours of prototyping recently earned them third place in the K-State Engineering student organization display competition at K-State Open House.
