We drove past the mansion from Crazy Rich Asians - itโs actually open to visitors now, but we didnโt have time to pop in properly.
The night before at Jalan Alor in Bukit Bintang, we had a proper durian feast after dinner. First time trying Musang King at such reasonable prices! We ate quite a few of these โking of fruitsโ (yes, theyโre the smelly ones). Left very satisfied.

Visited Thean Hou Temple next, which is one of the oldest and largest Chinese temples in Southeast Asia. Really lovely spot โ also saw Merdeka 118 tower and KL Tower.
New Yearโs Eve so we headed back to Petronas Twin Towers for fireworks. Celebrated with friends โ proper way to bring in the new year.

Started the next proper day at the Petronas Twin Towers. Did you know they were the worldโs tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004? Got brilliant views from W Hotel.
Spent time at Lalaport, then hit up TRX Exchange and Pavilion for shopping and desserts. KL has over 150 shopping centres โ spoilt for choice.
Finished at Chinatown visiting Kwai Chai Hong. The street art there celebrates Old Kuala Lumpurโs heritage. Lovely people, good food, nice atmosphere. Canโt complain.

Popped over to Sarikei, about 60km away. Itโs known as Malaysiaโs pineapple capital, producing around 34,000 tonnes yearly. Had coffee and brought back loads of pineapples.
Dinner was sushi at Sushi Tie, then met mates at Nica Plus for pudding. Short trip this time but good catching up with family and friends before heading back to KL.

Then visited Tua Pek Kong Temple, one of the oldest Chinese temples in Sarawak.
Brunch was Chopsticksโ chicken rice (theyโve been going since the 1950s - locals swear by it).
Coffee stop for a latte, quick gym session, then dinner was Nasi Kelabu at Bandung - the blue rice gets its colour from butterfly pea flowers.
First day = family time, good food, and cuddles with the puppies ๐ถ
