We had an amazing time performing this chamber music recital with our dear friends and wonderful colleagues and for the celebration of the Day of Hungarian Culture. It really was a peak chamber music experience for me — and it also reminded me how much I’ve missed making chamber music, including the intensity and focus of preparing a recital like this.

#flutetips: flexibility is KEY!🔑 Both in the solo at the beginning and during the counterpoint with the English horn I aimed for a bright, light sound. When the EH plays the solo, try not to overpower it, but support its phrases with a light, short but not dry articulation. It's VERY important that we know exactly what the EH plays so that we can accompany the main melody, not the other way around. Since we had only one rehearsal since it was the final of the competition, we played it through together a couple of times, that helped a lot. It's not as scary as it looks😜
