All photos on trip were taken with the XT30, in the Classic Chrome colour mode. No further editing was done. The in-camera colors of Fuji are exceptional!
Lenses used were the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 kit lens and 35mm f/1.4 lens.
To emulate the person who inspired me to become a photographer,
Undettered, we set off in a Shikhara in pitch black darkness, with the sound of rain on the lake all around us. There was some light that started to fill the landscape as we got closer to the destination, and fortunately, the rain slowly petered out too.
There was initially only a few boats but as more rowed in, it felt as though we had traveled through time, watching these men pass by on their boats, rowing gently, and selling vegetables.
& I traveled to Srinagar a couple of weeks ago, and it was mostly a lazy holiday after a busy wedding season. But apart from all the relaxing, we made it a point to visit the Dal Lake multiple times.
It was a surreal experience to go on a boat through the Lake, while surrounded by mountains, with barely any noise to disturb the serenity of the moment.
Bharath Sayam's artworks are inspired by the traditional profession of his community of rearing buffaloes and cows. We see strong influences of the objects and materials associated with it, from the old metal milk cans and wooden bullock carts.
Speaking to him, we were able to understand his reasoning behind sticking to his roots, and it was an important lesson for all us artists as well - that our strongest work will always be very personal, about ourselves, our lives, and our upbringing.
We were able to see several of his latest works in progress at his studio, ranging from a massive canvas painting to some very interesting installations.
