メルボルンから30分ほどドライブすると素敵な山、ダンデノンがあります。自然に囲まれた中での素晴らしいウェディング。花嫁様はご自身が成人式で着られて振袖に白無垢を合わせての挙式でした。
挙式の後の披露宴では白無垢を抜くだけであっという間に素敵な振袖姿を皆様にご披露できます。
時短もできますし、やはり海外のお客様には華やかな帯結びを披露するとわー！っと盛り上がります。

日本で撮ったフィルムをやっと現像しました。
使用したのは35mmフィルムかとおもいきや、ECN2というなかなか特殊なフィルムだったみたいで、日本で現像を断られ、メルボルンに帰って来てから現像を頼みました。
メルボルンはフィルムカメラ界隈が熱いので、あっさりとやってくれるところが見つかって良かった。
さてさて、これは可愛い絞りの振袖。娘に着せてみました。
日本に滞在していた時、仕事道具は全てメルボルンに置いてあったため、ほとんど着付け小物が手元にない中での振袖着付けでした。
振袖用帯締めも手元になかったので、急遽、とりあえずダイソーの編み物コーナーにあったモコモコ綿入りヤーンで帯締め作ってみたら割といい感じの帯締めになりました。
来年は娘はいよいよ２０歳になります。いったいこの子は何着母親に着せられることになるのかしら。

At Treasury Gardens, beautifully painted in autumn colors, there are trees that turn a stunning shade of red — something quite rare to see in the city 🍁
Alongside Carlton Gardens, it’s one of my favorite parks in Melbourne.
For clients visiting Melbourne, I usually recommend the World Heritage-listed Carlton Gardens, but for those hoping to capture beautiful autumn colors at this time of year, Treasury Gardens is definitely my top recommendation.
After the ceremony, we also did a photoshoot in the park with the family who had come all the way from Japan to celebrate together. We spent such a joyful and special time together 😊
No matter how many weddings I photograph, they always make me feel so happy 💓

自分が最期を迎えるとき、いったいどうすればいいのだろう、と。
家族はどうするのか。
お葬式はどこで、どんな形で行うのか。
そんなことを、少しだけでも考えたことがある方に、今日の出来事を書いてみたいと思います。
メルボルンで着物スタイリストとして仕事を始めてから10年以上が経ちました。これまで結婚式などお祝いの場で着物を着せることがほとんどでしたが、今日は初めて喪服の着付けをさせていただきました。
海外で生活していると、着物を着る機会はお祝いの場に限られ、悲しみの席で着付けをすることはほとんどありませんでした。そのため今回の経験は、私にとっても少し特別なものでした。
きっかけは、一人の女性がお店を訪ねてきてくださったことでした。
「黒い着物が欲しいんだけど」
そう話されたのは50代後半くらいの女性で、見た目は西洋の方でしたが、日本人のお母様を持つ方でした。
お母様はいわゆる戦争花嫁で、当時は日本人というだけで迫害を受け、ご家族は大変な苦労をされたそうです。彼女自身も日本語に触れる機会はほとんどなかったとのことでしたが、それでもお母様の中にはずっと日本人としての心があり、その存在を強く感じて生きてきたと話してくれました。
長年お母様の介護をされ、見送ることになった今、日本式で葬儀をしてあげたい——そう思われたそうです。
しかし日本人の知人もおらず、何をどうすればいいのか分からない状態でした。
「日本では葬式のとき、黒い着物を着るんでしょう？亡くなった人には白い着物を着せるんでしょう？」
その一言から、すべてが始まりました。
お店には黒い着物や帯はありましたが、死装束までは扱っていなかったため、一緒に探すところからお手伝いをしました。ちょうど日本に行っていたご友人がいて、お寺で用意することができたと聞き、まずは安心しました。
ただ、そこからが本当の大変さでした。
こちらでは日本のように葬儀社がすべてを手配してくれるわけではありません。会場、搬送、花、写真、棺、お坊さんまで、すべてを一つずつ自分で手配しなければなりません。
日本の葬儀で使われるお花のことをお伝えしたり、メルボルンにいる日本人のお坊さんの情報をお伝えしたりしながら、少しずつ形を整えていきました。
そして今日、式の前に彼女の宿泊先へ伺い、喪服の着付けをさせていただきました。
着付けが終わると彼女は、「これで母にしてあげたかったことを全部してあげることができました」と穏やかに話してくれました。
その言葉を聞いたとき、着物は“装い”ではなく、“想いを形にするもの”なのだとあらためて感じました。
「あなたも葬儀に来ますか？」と、まるで誕生日会に誘うように声をかけて下さったけど、次の仕事があり今回はお断りしました。
いただいたパンフレット、「ほら日本語が書いてあるでしょ？」
どうてみても英語だと思ったけど、よく見るとそこには般若心経が記されていました。
海外で暮らしていると、日本の当たり前が当たり前ではなくなる場面に出会います。
そして同時に、「どう生きるか」だけでなく「どう見送られたいか」を考えることも、とても大切なことなのかもしれないと感じた一日でした。
