Moments before 15-year-old George rang the end of treatment bell at he was surprised by Kimmy - the person who anonymously donated the stem cells that saved his life!
In January 2021, when George was 11 years old, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), the most common leukaemia in children. Due to the aggressive nature of Georgeβs ALL, a stem cell transplant was urgently needed.
Kimmy was a perfect match for George on all stem cell registers across the world and underwent a procedure to donate her stem cells via bone marrow in December 2021.
Thanks to Kimmyβs kindness, George was able to ring the end of treatment bell and is now looking forward to lots more football and adventures with his family.
Being on the register can and does save lives and this is a prime example of that.

My heart is sooo full!
One of the most incredible days of my entire life Iβm beyond proud of George and his family for being so incredibly strong!
Each day was a evil battle, every other day the family was told that Georgeβs body wasnβt responding to the chemotherapy, he was on the maximum dose of chemo so he had to have cart T cell therapy in Great Ormond Street Hospital, they were warned it was a 50/50 chance Georgeβs body would except all the toxins he would have put into his body!
He was in ICU for a short while but he bounced back and got his body ready for my Bone Marrow Transplant!!
So blessed to be part of Georgeβs healing journey and yesterday was the day we went to Sheffield Childrens Hospital for George to ring the bell and finally meet everyone!
Being on the or register can and does save lives and this is a prime example of that.
