세상에는 수많은 장르의 사진이 있고, 모든 사진에는 저마다의 미덕이 있습니다. 저는 제가 좋아하고 업으로 삼고 있는 기록사진이 다른 어떤 사진보다 앞선다고 말하고 싶은 게 아닙니다. 다만 사진으로 세상을 보고 나의 이야기를 사진에 담는 방법, 그리고 이 시대에 사진가로 살아간다는 것의 의미를 이 책에서 함께 찾아보고 싶었습니다.
이 책에는 25년간 사진기자로 일하며 현장에서 몸으로 터득한 사진 공부법도 담았습니다. 그리고 AI가 가져다준 기술의 평준화 시대에, 무엇이 사진가에게 남겨진 진짜 무기가 될지도 함께 담아보았습니다. 그 모든 답의 근저에는 결국 하나의 확신이 있었습니다. 좋은 사진은 사진가의 눈과 마음, 그리고 현장에서 쌓은 경험이 합쳐져서 만들어진다는 것.
