✨ The right thing to do is often the hardest thing to do.
Doing what’s best for yourself (and in this case, it was breaking up) will rarely feel comfortable. It will ache, it will test you, and it will make you question literally everything.
✨ I was part of the problem too.
It’s easy to point fingers, but healing starts when you reflect and admit your own role. I let our communication break down. I broke lines of trust. I didn’t prioritize us. I settled for not speaking up even when things bothered me and ultimately let my intuition become lost. Accountability hurts but I believe it’s absolutely key to growing and becoming better.
✨Grief is 100% not linear.
Even months after it all, I would find myself feeling strong and grounded one moment, and the next, a song or a photo would take the air right out of me. Healing doesn’t move in a straight line. At least it didn’t for me. It looped around, stung, and retracted many times. Be patient with the process and find ways to move through the grief. Therapy and journaling helped a lot for me.
✨Letting go was an act of love too.
Not just for him, but for me. For the life I’m still building, for the peace I’m finding, and for the version of myself who finally stopped shrinking to make someone else fit.
If you’re going through something similar, know that it’s okay to grieve, it’s okay to stumble, and it’s absolutely 100% okay to put yourself first. It will be worth it, I’m telling you. ❤️🩹
