Normally, the black-and-white it just speaks to me and there is no contest, but with this concept, I really do like the colour
I used the same colour scheme as in the new cloud painting of bison that I will be showing at Stampede

This is one of two paintings I'll be creating live at the Calgary Stampede.
When I was a young boy, my mom and I used to draw together in the living room. I would never let her see my work until I was finished. She always patiently waited and never rushed me.
Even as an adult, I never wanted people to watch me paint. I always felt like someone might tell me I was doing it wrong.
Over the last ten years, I've forced myself to quiet those thoughts and paint live. At the Stampede, I'm sometimes surrounded by hundreds of people.
I become so absorbed in the painting that when I finally turn around to take a break, I'm always surprised by all the faces watching.
