という漢字の意外な成り立ち🔥
実は昔、
「然」だけで「もえる」という意味を持っていました。
文字を分解してみると…
・月 ＝ 肉 🍖
・犬 ＝ 犬 🐶
・灬 ＝ 火 🔥
つまり、
「犬の肉を火で焼いている様子」
から生まれた漢字といわれています❗️
（ちょっとワイルドですね😳）
ところが時代が進むにつれて、
「然」は
「その通り」
「当然」
「自然」
などの意味で使われることが増えました。
そこで、
「もえる」という本来の意味をはっきり伝えるために、さらに「火」を加えた字が『燃』です✨

Long ago, the single character 「然」 originally meant “to burn.”
If we break it down:
・月 = meat 🍖
・犬 = dog 🐶
・灬 = fire 🔥
Together, it is said to depict dog meat being roasted over a fire.
(A bit surprising by today’s standards! 😳)
As time passed, however, 「然」 came to be used mainly in words such as:
当然 (of course)
自然 (nature)
然り (so; thus)
Its original meaning, “to burn,” became less clear.
To make that meaning explicit again, people added the 火 (fire) radical, creating the character 「燃」.
Even in a single character, history and culture are hidden within.
And when written in different scripts—Kaisho, Gyosho, Sosho, and Reisho—the same character expresses a completely different feeling, almost like the movement of flames themselves.
