Happy Birthday to, and thanks as always to the reelalishious for the awesome reel.
And can highly recommend as a great fly in lunch stop!
And itās got nothing to do with āIām too busyā or āI donāt know what to postā itās purely inspiration.
What can I post thatās different, interesting, inspiring etcā¦
And to be honest I donāt think there is anything.
So instead Iām just showing up and posting so you know I do still work even tho it looks like Iām always on holiday.
Well actually saying thatā¦
I will be away for the first two weeks of June. āļø
ā¢PROFICIENCY
ā¢CHECKRIDE
Well, the ground portion, or theory part of it anyway.
Every year I have to do an IPC and a Type Renewal on the jet. Iāve now passed the ground portion and next week Iāll do the flight test with an American DPE (FAA Designated Pilot Examiner) because itās an American Jet on American Registration so I have to fly it with an American licenseā¦and thereās nobody in Australia licensed to test me! š¢
So I flew to Cowra to do the ground portion with. I highly recommend these guys for any flight training you might need, theyāve got a really great operation.
Whilst we were there we popped over to Orange, had a delicious dinner and flew back to Bankstown (work) the following day.

What an unforgettable Easter break!
We had an absolute blast, packed with action and chill vibes!
Until our next adventureā¦

We absolutely LOVED this resort ā„ļø
It has just been newly renovated, and they have done an absolutely superb job!
We had 4 nights here just relaxing, having massages, scuba diving, swimming, watching the sun set and lots of sleeping!
#philippines
And scuba diving was so much fun that we want to do more, so any recommendations on the best places, let us know!
Shout out to for the awesome Osmo Nano camera, itās bloody brilliant!
Firstly, my youngest son / wrote and played the score for this reelā¦.beyond proud dad moment!
Secondly, and their awesome for the aerial shots.
And finally, the Philippines for the stunning natural beauty.
Ok so I never expected to get such mixed opinions on the word āfakeā.
It never even crossed my dyslexic mind that it was a bad word to choose.
I decided to do a part two on this so I can explain what I mean. And hopefully do a better job of it then the first time š«£
The word āfakeā to me personally means pretend/act/hide your feelings/put on a show.
I have a lot of clients that Iām very close to where I donāt have to be like this and I can be myself and sometimes even talk to them about whatās going on.
BUTā¦
Itās my job to make clients feel good and look good.
I canāt be crying to a new client about my friend who literally just died, or a break up with a guy, or family dramas etcā¦
I have to fake/pretend/act/hide and put my show mask on and be professional.
The point in the first reel was just to show awareness to clients that sometimes myself and other hairdressers struggle to always be on top form and for other hairdressers to feel like they arenāt the only ones.
For those of you who have said you never are fake/pretend/act with your clients I love that you can be yourself ā¤ļø
For those of you who have said itās our job get on with it, deal with your emotions, be stronger, toughen up etc⦠I agree!!! But not everyone is built/wired the same ā¤ļø
HOPEFULLY I have explained myself better in this reel šš»š¤š»
Our job is to make you happy.
Happy with your hair and happy with the whole service we have provided.
We are on show from the time we walk into the salon to the time we leave (unless we are in the toilet or hiding in our secret spots we go to cry.)
We have to sometimes fake that we are happy and pretend that everything is ok, when itās not.
And before anyone says anything like āwell you donāt have to be a hairdresser, go sit in front of a computerā or āthere is harder jobs out thereā yes I am aware of thatā¦
BUTā¦
I want clients (not just mine) to understand that if your hairdresser is having an off day, maybe not as smiley, not wearing as much make up, not as chatty, whatever⦠to please let them just get on with your hair and work their magic.
They are trying their best to be fake.
PART TWO goes into depth about the word āfakeā
Love small talk.
Especially me.
I actually really struggle with it. Simple questions confuse me and I donāt get the point of them.
It might come across as rude, but itās not. Itās how my brain works.
Iām I in the wrong job? š¤·š»āāļø
Thereās this whole perspective that hairdressers love talking about the weather, Xmas, and general small talk. I can only talk for myself here but I just donāt.
Will this put new clients off coming to me? Maybe.
The whole stereotypical hairdresser trait just annoys me. Anyway I will go into that in another postā¦
