Kawara is a Tokyo-based street photographer who has called the city home for decades, capturing both the light and shadows of urban life. While maintaining a corporate career, she documents an intimate ongoing series about her family’s journey through elderly care. As a founding member of VoidTokyo, a photography collective, she has collaborated with fellow photographers to capture the raw essence of Tokyo’s streets, publishing their work in print since 2017.

VoidTokyo will be participating in the Japan-Korea photography exchange exhibition at the Haeden Museum in Ganghwado, Incheon, opening next month on Friday, April 5.
From Japan, nine members of VoidTokyo and six other up-and-coming photographers will participate. From Korea, five photographers representing the current state of Korean documentary photography will participate, bringing the total number of participants to 20.
This will be the first photography exhibition at the Haeden Museum, which has hosted exhibitions of contemporary art for the past twelve years.
The program, which will feature a total of 130 photographs, will present the current state of Japanese street photography and the current state of Korean documentary photography, with the aim of deepening mutual understanding and building bridges between the two cultures.

"VoidTokyo will participate in the Japan-Korea photography exchange exhibition at the Haeden Museum ( in Ganghwado, Incheon, starting next month on Friday, April 5.
