To try new things.
To be a beginner.
To change your mind.
To surprise yourself.
Sometimes the most important thing you can do is stop watching from the sidelines and step into the experience.
You never know what might be waiting on the other side of a simple yes.

Sometimes directly.
More often indirectly.
And honestly?
It’s never bothered me as much as people might think.
Because I’ve always found it strange that someone would try to build trust by tearing somebody else down.
If your teaching is good, teach.
If your studio is great, show people why.
If your product has value, let it speak for itself.
You shouldn’t need to convince people that someone else is doing a bad job in order to prove you’re doing a good one.
The older I get, the less interested I am in industry gossip, competition, and criticism.
There are so many teachers, studios, approaches, and methods because different people need different things.
Not everyone will like what I do.
Not everyone should.
And that’s okay.
What I refuse to do is build my business by talking badly about another teacher, studio, or brand.
I’d rather spend my energy improving what we’re creating than criticising what someone else is creating.
Maybe that’s old-fashioned.
But I still believe the strongest businesses, teachers, and leaders are the ones who focus on their own work.
Not everyone else’s.
It was one of the most significant injuries I’ve dealt with, and it’s something I still have to manage today.
One thing it completely changed was my relationship with flexibility.
For years, I thought more range of motion was always a good thing. Now I’m far more interested in strength, control and stability within the range I already have.
This exercise is one of the many things I still do to keep my hips strong, supported and happy.
The older I get, the more I believe that strength is what gives us freedom.
Not just flexibility.
Curious... has an injury ever completely changed the way you train? 👇

Most people don’t need a new plan. They need more patience. After 10 years of running studios, I’ve noticed something.
People often quit just before things start to change.
They stop because they don’t feel flexible enough.
Strong enough.
Fit enough.
Advanced enough.
They assume it isn’t working. But the people who make lasting changes aren’t usually the most talented. They’re the people who keep showing up long after the excitement wears off.
Long after the motivation disappears.
Long after nobody is watching.
The boring truth?
Most goals aren’t achieved through intensity.
They’re achieved through consistency.
11 years ago, Purple Valley was my first ever trip to India.
It was also my son’s first overseas adventure when he was just two years old.
I’ve spent over six weeks here as a student over the years, and it remains one of the most special places in my life.
This November, I’m returning to teach at the place that shaped so much of my own journey.
A beautiful first step into India.
Open to all levels.
Come and experience the magic for yourself. ✨🇮🇳❤️
And honestly, I appreciate this student taking the time to tell me and sharing the feedback.
Running a wellness business in 2026 isn’t the same as it was a few years ago.
Rent goes up.
Energy goes up.
Insurance goes up.
Software goes up.
Everything costs more.
At the same time, I want to pay our teachers fairly, support our team properly, maintain beautiful spaces, and continue offering the quality of classes and community that people have come to expect from us.
Could we be cheaper?
Of course.
There will always be somewhere cheaper.
But that’s never really been what we’re trying to build.
What we’re trying to build is a professional, sustainable space where teachers are valued, classes are thoughtfully delivered, and people feel welcome.
And yes, sometimes that means making difficult decisions that not everyone agrees with.
If people choose another studio, another activity, or another way to spend their time and money, that’s completely okay. Everyone has to do what’s right for them.
But I also believe that not everything can be measured by the lowest price.
Quality matters.
Community matters.
Experience matters.
And for those who continue to support what we’re building, thank you.
We see you, and we don’t take it for granted.
What if the goal is simply to remain in charge of your own relationship with it?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
I work in wellness, a space that talks endlessly about health, longevity and self-care. But sometimes it feels as though we’re having a completely different conversation. One that’s really about ageing.
Or perhaps more specifically, about not ageing.
At the same time, there seems to be another narrative emerging. One that says if you’re truly comfortable with yourself, you’ll embrace every grey hair, every wrinkle and every change without question.
Neither of those extremes feels particularly true to me.
I enjoy taking care of myself.
I like feeling attractive.
I’ve coloured my hair in the past. I’ve had Botox. I’ve spent money on skincare. I also have no intention of covering my grey hair.
None of those choices feel contradictory.
What interests me isn’t whether a choice is ageing or anti-ageing. Natural or unnatural.
What interests me is whether it feels like my choice.
The older I get, the less interested I am in following someone else’s rules about how a woman should age.
Whether those rules come from the beauty industry or from people who think ageing should be embraced in a very particular way.
The grey hair has been an interesting reminder of that.
When it first appeared, I immediately thought about covering it. Not because I disliked how it looked, but because I thought I was supposed to.
Now I leave it alone. Not because I think grey hair is more authentic or more evolved. Simply because I don’t feel the need to change it.
At least not right now.
Maybe that’s what ageing has taught me so far.
Not how to stop it.
Not how to embrace it.
But how to make room for my own relationship with it.
One that isn’t based on fear, rebellion, trends or expectations.
Just choice.
I get many interesting messages on IG ranging from feet pic requests, offers to be my sugar daddy ( tempting ) and the occasional misogynistic opinions. However for some reason the sexualization theme made me stop and think for a moment. What was it about the photo that made it sexual in anyway? I am never photographed in a sports bra and booty shorts, never naked and trust me, I don’t think my attempt of leg behind the head qualifies for Sports Illustrated so what was it?!
I then very quickly came to my senses and remembered that it’s not my problem to worry about what men or woman think about my body and that some men in particular seem to find a confident curvy lady with tits a bit scary. Boo 👻
This is a question I have been asking myself a lot recently and it’s an important question especially now I am growing in my practice and teaching in new spaces with new students.
I have given it thought and here are the five main tenets which I would like to share.
🙏I will empower my students to find what works for their own bodies and lifestyle and encourage them to take control and at some point, responsibility for their own journey.
🙏 I will create a space where all levels and abilities feel safe and welcome but also challenged and encouraged to find their limits and explore them.
🙏I will teach from a place of experience making sure to maintain my daily practice so I can take the lessons I learn on the mat to my classes in an authentic way.
🙏 I will continue to always be a student and strive to keep an open mind and a good level of respect for all the teachings of yoga regardless of style.
🙏I will be honest with myself and my students regarding my own practice struggles and limitations in the hope to create a safe and sustainable approach to the practice.
Love,
Katy
