Today is Katie’s birthday and I’m so excited to celebrate her!
Katie is truly the most incredible, most loving, most generous, and most adventurous (not always in the more traditional sense of the word, but in the not so obvious ways) person. She encourages me to truly be myself and supports whatever wild ideas we have. She is incredibly passionate, creative and hard working, and has built a life for herself (and for me) with the kind of happiness, love and adventure that one could only dream of.
I am endlessly grateful I stumbled into her dance class 15 years ago, because I get to live out this dream life with the most amazing wife, teammate and best friend imaginable!

These past few months have been full of snowy adventures, cold cozy days, and so much fun. Winter travel is becoming one of my favourite things, and this year we’ve been able to fit in multiple visits up to Whistler, a trip down to Park City for my first time in Utah, and a fun adventure in Winnipeg for their annual winter festival. We’ve spent more time on the mountains than any other year, and I’m really enjoying skiing, I’m so glad I stuck with learning! It’s been so fun to embrace this time of year and find ways to make it magical. So grateful for all these memories.

I feel like I’ve really embraced the idea of aging since I’ve been in my 30s. I no longer feel afraid to get older, and I think a large part of that is because I try to surround myself with, and listen and learn from people who are genuinely happy with their own lives. Especially other women. It’s a lot easier to accept the passage of time and watch yourself age, when you feel proud of who you are and what you’ve accomplished, and are excited about what’s to come next. Rather than settling for a life that doesn’t light you up, and deciding that you don’t have the ability to change it. Easier said than done of course, but that’s something that I let guide me when there are times that I feel like I’m not living the life that I want for myself.
Aging is such a privilege, and the reality that we have a limited amount of time is what ultimately gives our lives meaning. I’m so grateful to still be here, still working toward the dreams I have, and still learning and growing into a better version of myself ❤️

It’s no secret that I think she’s pretty special, so here are just some of the reasons why is my absolute favourite person in the world! 💕
We have spent almost every moment of the past 13 years together, and we can still just sit and talk for hours about anything and everything 🥰
She always laughs at my silly jokes, plays along with my ridiculous games, and doesn’t just tolerate, but encourages the songs I make up in response to all of life’s situations 👯♀️
Whenever one of us has a wild idea, the other one usually comes up with a plan to make it happen! ☺️

We’re two weeks into the new year, and I thought it’d be a good opportunity to re-introduce myself for any new faces around here, and let you know what you can expect from me online.
I’m Katie, I’m a Canadian, child-free, millennial lesbian, and I’m happy married to my partner of 13 years. My wife Steph was my first ever girlfriend and together we run a business, travel the world, and have a little dog named Theo.
I grew up in the performing arts and had a very rewarding career as a professional dancer and model. When the talent industry shut down during the pandemic, I shifted to working with my wife full-time. Together we are now an award winning digital media team, creating travel and lifestyle content around our adventures. It’s a dream job.
About a year ago, something happened that really destroyed my confidence and my desire to express myself. I’ve spent the past 12 months trying to move forward, let go of my fears about how others perceive me, and find my creative joy again. I hope that in sharing parts of my personal life here again, it will help me find the pieces of myself that I lost.
My word for 2024 is ‘healing’ and my big focus this year is on taking care of myself, so I can be a better version of me in all aspects of my life. I’d love to share about the books I’m reading, the podcasts I’m listening to, what I’m learning in therapy, and my different habits of self care if that’s something you’re interested in.
I appreciate every single one of you for following along and connecting with me. I know social media can be a dark and toxic place a lot of the time, but I also still believe that it can be a beautiful source of community and a healthy outlet for self expression.
