to be honest, 16 year old me *thought* she had it all together but she really really didn’t
there are parts of my past I feel deep shame about. things I did or said while in survival mode; things I know hurt the people around me.
I know better now, and I have long since apologised to the people around me. I’ve taken accountability for who I had to become in order to survive my own mind.
now, I try not to look at my past with distain.
I try to remember that every single version of me deserves to be loved, to be looked upon with kindness.
I can’t change my past, so I’ve learned to make peace with it.

going off of a really popular reel i posted a few days ago, i wanted to start a series talking about how to actually build the support system we see
if you struggle to open up when it Really Matters, maybe it’s because you don’t have any trust built with the people around you!!!
trust is built through consistent daily action. it’s built through sharing the most mundane moments of your life, where you’re actually letting people in AS the moments happen.
but not everyone deserves to be let in (ep 2!!) so it’s important to be diligent about who you surround yourself with:’)
ultimately, if you’re looking for someone to lean on during a hard time, it’s important to start with a good foundation. the best friendships are the ones where i tell them about my day. we’re living and growing alongside each other, NOT just checking in
this releases the pressure for when i have something Really Biggggg to say … as we’ve already worked the muscle of being there for each other in the small moments as well:)

my journey with my own mental wellbeing is pinned to my page (world mental health day post!) but I thought it was especially important to touch on this idea of good/bad
at the start of each year, we’re always so motivated to make it “the best year yet”
what’s important to realise is that all years (whether that’s calendar year or ages) are always a mix of good AND bad
because without the “bad,” not only can we not appreciate the good, but we also aren’t forced to grow
looking back at everything that has happened, i recognise that all of it has made me the person i am today.
am i happy some things happened? no
but am i grateful that those challenges made me into who i am? absolutely
anyways it’s a little sappy for a thurs morning. love you all xxx
