A little over a year ago, a friend shared this sentiment with me. It struck me so, and has been with me ever since. In a world that can feel uncertain and chaotic, dark and hopeless, I believe that hope still counts for something.
I like to hold that motherhood is an inherent act of optimism— viewing these children as tender shoots, who can add beauty and goodness to the world through their own special gifts and specific vocations. Fueled by love and dedication, I’m encouraged to keep going even when it’s challenging & overwhelming— which with five small children, is so often is. Still, what a precious and marvelous gift to steward these small people to, “spur one another on toward the good.”

This was the first real, spring like weekend we’ve had and it felt glorious! We’re continuing to work on our garden, ate our first dinner outside on Saturday night, and flowers are starting to come up! Hoping to work more in the garden in the coming weeks and really hopeful that the zinnias and cosmos I planted will come up. 🤞🏽

A loving God, His mother, and a chorus of saints cheering us on. Happy Mother’s Day.
Slowly waking up to the loud household and world around him: a pensive, thoughtful older soul. The bluest of seaside eyes, sandy haired, and still snuggling me at night. First giggles, enamored with his siblings, and loves the outdoors.
Since then, I’ve had days and moments where those feelings (thankfully not as intense) return. I’m reminded daily that these experiences do not demean the love I hold for my life and children. Not fixed or tied up neatly in a bow, just here and figuring this out as I go.
