no complaints from me 😍

while winter usually means more rain than normal, it also means the the greenery in SoCal comes to life, waterfalls start flowing again, some of the best sunsets, mild temps & winter waves 🙌 it’s one of my favorite times of years to slow down and get out on the trails! Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Cedar Creek Falls (permit required) for a beautiful waterfall hike
2. Three Sisters Falls if you want to see a series of cascading waterfalls
3. El Cajon Mountain if you’re looking for a big challenge
4. Stonewall Peak has been on my bucketlist for a while
5. Coastal Walk Trail in La Jolla if you’re looking for something short and sweet and absolutely beautiful!

winter = no crowds 🙌

Monument Valley had been on my bucket list for YEARS before I finally went in 2023 in… January! And going in January was definitely not my first choice but it was the only time when the opportunity presented itself so I jumped on it. But it actually ended up being a surpassingly great time to go (if you can put up with the cold) - there were 0 crowds (we were 1 of like 5 cars) and we had an absolute blast driving around and exploring it’s towering sandstone buttes!

It’s is a pretty easy drive from Page, Sedona, or Moab and can be done as a day trip (or an overnight if you’re driving from further like Phoenix)! (Just make sure to be aware for any snow or extreme weather on the forecast) Here’s a mini-guide to visiting 👇

🏠Stay: The View Hotel! Make sure you book either one of their front-row cabins or a room with a “Premium View” for the best views of Monument Valley right from your room! They also have a campground too

To do:
🚘Drive the Monument Valley Scenic Loop (this is a MUST - we spent 3 hours driving the loop and jumping out at every viewpoint along the way)
📸 take photos with a horse at John Ford point & the iconic views of Forest Gump point
🥾hike the Wildcat trial (it’s the only self-guided trail in
Monument Valley!)

🎟️Entering the Monument Valley Tribal Park currently costs $8 per person per day.

Monument Valley is on sovereign Navajo Nation land and is NOT a national park so your national park passes won’t grant you access here!

a visual love letter to California 😌 & what my camera roll has looked like since moving here 5 years ago 💛

when I moved to San Diego from Washington DC (& from spending my entire life on the East Coast), I was looking for a place that matched my desire of being able to access the outdoors easily and almost every single day. I wanted to live somewhere that going to the beach was the Saturday activity instead of bottomless brunch, where I could watch the sunset over the ocean instead of buildings, and where being outside was a part of life year round. & that is San Diego!!

Plus I can say, even after 5 years of living here, the magic still hasn’t faded. Sunset is a daily social event here in my neighborhood, people gather in parks or at the beach with their friends, everyone is outside walking, running, or surfing pretty much at all hours of the day - even in the middle of winter!!! I feel like I found a place that really fits me ☺️

Obviously there are monetary sacrifices that come with that and thinking about the housing market here terrifies me a bit😅 I may pay a lot more in rent but I do live a few steps from the beach & see the ocean everyday and I probably won’t own a home anytime soon like most of my friends back home but the views from my rental are prettyyyy great - life’s all about trade offs right?!

so surprised to see this in Palm Springs!!👇

Before this, I had no clue that waterfalls existed in Palm Springs bc it’s pretty much a giant desert!! But Tahquitz Falls, nestled in Tahquitz Canyon, is an easy, relatively flat trail to a 60 ft waterfall with beautiful scenery along the way. I even waded into the water a bit since it was pretty calm once we reached the waterfall (it was VERY cold though). Here’s a few details for your own planning 👇

- Tahquitz Canyon does have an admission fee of $15 per person which can paid at the visitor center

- You can join a ranger-lead hike for free (included in your admission) which leave from the visitor center 4 times per day. We did this and it was great to learn about the Agua Caliente Band of the Cahuilla Indians that lived there & the Legend of Tahquitz!

- it’s best to avoid this one during the summer as it can get dangerously hot! They also have limited operating hours during the summer

- no dogs allowed on this one!

-the waterfall is seasonal, meaning it’s not necessarily always flowing!

did you know Baja had water that looked like this?!? 😍 4 magical days sailing, swimming, & snorkeling our way around the Sea of Cortez ✨ We had some great weather (don’t sleep on November in Baja!!!), warm water, an amazing cook, captain who brought us to all the best spots around the island, incredible reefs, sea lion encounters, hiking, & hours of reading, games, swimming, chatting, & laughing together on our floating home. I’d been to La Paz & its surrounding islands once before but this trip truly made me fall absolutely in love with this whole area. The clearest waters, the best sea life, & overall just a true gem in Baja 🇲🇽 I will definitely be back!!

PS - this is your sign to plan your own 👀

Want to go hut-to-hut trekking in 2026?!🙋‍♀️ details 👇

Honestly one of my bottle favorite parts of hiking the Tour Du Mont Blanc last year was staying in the mountain huts. Not only were they a comfortable place to arrive, have a hot shower, delicious meal and comfortable bed at the end of hiking each day, they also all had their unique quirks that made them so special - weather it be insane locations (staying right next to a glacier!), incredible views of being completely surrounded by the Alps, the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had, & all the hikers from around the world that gather there - staying in a mountain hut is just such a special experience 🥰

& I still have a few spots left on my hut-to-hut Alta Via 1 trek in the Dolomites for 2026 with my company!!! Think 10 days hiking on one of Europe’s most iconic trails, staying at huts each night, connecting with other female travelers - with EVERYTHING included 🙌 here’s the details👇

another reason to love our public lands!!!👇

Did you know there are 155 National Forests in the US vs only 63 National Parks? National Forests make up 163 million acres of land & encompass some of this country’s most beautiful landscapes. In fact, some of my favorite places l’ve traveled in the US are National Forests!

So what’s the difference between a National Forest and a National Park? National Forests are managed for many purposes such as sustaining the health and productivity of the forests (can be used for lumber & cattle grazing) as well as for recreation. National Forests sometimes allow for hunting & you’re often allowed to bring dogs on the trails. On the other hand, National Parks have a focus on preservation, being
“unimpaired”, and barely altering the land (as well as
education & inspiration!). National forests are managed by Department of Agriculture while National Parks are managed by the Department of Interior.

👉Both are public lands meaning they are available to EVERYONE and therefore it’s so so important to practice the Leave No Trace Principles and leave the land BETTER than you found it. This is especially so so important if you plan on visiting during the current gov shutdown since staffing is low/non-existent

Here are my top 3 favorite National Forests to add to your travel bucketlist:

1. Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho
2. Shasta-Trinity National Forest in California
3. Willamette National Forest in Oregon

Have you visited either of these before? What are some other incredible National Forests?

introducing…. my passion project I’ve been working on the last few months 🥰 was born from my own personal passion for the outdoors & my incredible experiences I had connecting with like-minded women on my past 3 group trips!! There’s just something so unique and powerful about experiencing the outdoors with a group of people who are just as excited as you are to be there✨

This women’s group trip company is a place for adventure, connection, and community IRL. & is built on the idea that going together is always more fun than going alone 💛 it’s also an opportunity for me to bring you even more trip options, itineraries, locations, and price points!

I’ll still be sharing a bit about my group trips over on this page but most of it will be over on my new IG page! That’s also where you can get on our email list to be the first to know when trips launch. I’m hoping to launch the Patagonia Horseback Riding & Hiking trip (round 2!!) sometime early July ☺️

More adventure. More connection. MORE GIRLS OUTDOORS.

hiiii 👋 & welcome to my page 🥾🏕️🏔️🌞

I’m Kat! I’m a photographer, traveler, lover of all things outdoors & consider myself to be a road trip enthusiast! I’ve been to over 30 countries but also do a lot of traveling in the States too. I’m drawn to places that are a little hard to find, typically avoid overly popular spots, and can almost always be found somewhere near a body of water. I surf but Im not good, I snowboard at an intermediate level (I like to think 🙃), grew up a runner, want to be a better Horseback rider, am a semi-experienced hiker, and am actively working on becoming a camper and backpacker!

My goal with this page is to share my photography, favorite outdoor destinations & itineraries, give travel tips & tricks I’ve learned over the years, and ultimately inspire you to explore both near home & abroad! And my absolute favorite part has been connecting with you ☺️ & starting to host my own group trips has been a big part of bringing that IRL - much more to come in that arena so stay tuned!! Check out to stay in the loop for future trips 🥰

Now I’ll let the algorithm do its thing and hope this finds the right group of people - & if you’re new here, welcome 🙂 would love to hear if any of this resonates with you!!

probably maybe some of my favorite photos ever 📸🏔️🥾🌞 there’s truly nothing I love more than hiking with my camera so this 10 day trek through the French, Italian, and Swiss Alps was an absolute dream for me! & the resulting photos are definitely at the top of my favorite ones I’ve taken 🥰 here’s a breakdown of each one:

1. Hut on Day 4 after crossing the border into Italy
2. Hiking toward Aiguille Des Glaciers on Day 3
3. Our first steps on the trail on Day 1 facing Mont Blanc right outside Chamonix
4. Day 5 facing the Mont Blanc massif from Italy
5. Some more Day 1 views
6. Cabane Du Combal on Day 5
7. Lunch views on Day 1
8. Driving to the start of the trailhead on Day 4
9. Line of hikers on the ascent to the Italian border on Day 4
10. Views over the Chamonix Valley on Day 9
11. Same hut from photo 1 but looking down from our detour trail where we found ibexes!
12. After hours of hiking through rain and fog, the sun started to come out on Day 3
13. More views from the trail on Day 1
14. Snippets of the mountains peaked through the fog on Day 3
15. On our way to go around that distant peak on a little trail detour
16. Finally reaching a hut after pouring rain to warm up
on Day 3
17. When it finally cleared up on Day 3 🙌
18. One of my favorite sections of the trail on Day 5
19. Outside of Chamonix Valley on Day 9
