• All of us are creatures of a day;
the rememberer and the remembered alike.
All is ephemeral—both memory and the object of memory.
The time is at hand when you will have forgotten everything;
and the time is at hand when all will have forgotten you.
Always reflect that soon you will be no one, and nowhere.•

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
💭 Maybe that’s enlightenment enough: to know that there is no final resting place of the mind; no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom...is realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go. 💭

I came across this list in my FB feed of all places😉

Some old simple wisdom seems to make a lot of sense🥂

What do you think? 🙌🏻

✔︎ Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
✔︎ Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.
✔︎ Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
✔︎ A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
✔︎ Words that soak into your ears are whispered, not yelled.
✔︎ Meanness don't just happen overnight.
✔︎ Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.
✔︎ The best sermons are lived, not preached.
✔︎ If you don't take the time to do it right, you'll find the time to do it twice.
✔︎ Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.
✔︎ It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.
✔︎ You cannot unsay a cruel word.
✔︎ Every path has a few puddles.
✔︎ When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
✔︎ Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.
✔︎ Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
✔︎ Don't judge folks by their relatives.
✔︎ Silence is sometimes the best answer.
✔︎ Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.
✔︎ Borrowing trouble from the future doesn't deplete the supply.
✔︎ Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.
✔︎ Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
✔︎ If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.
✔︎ Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
✔︎ The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
✔︎ Always drink upstream from the herd.
✔︎ Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
✔︎ Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.
✔︎ If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.
✔︎ Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

War in Ukraine was the topic of almost every session I've had with my clients and patients this past week. It was the main topic in most of the conversations with friends and family as well. No surprise there.

It's useful to remember that while everyone can have a different emotional reaction, there are ways we can try and understand the dynamics of the disaster and its structure. And what's more - be more prepared - at least emotionally.

It can somewhat normalize what it is that we might be going through ourselves, and also noticing around us.

I have a feeling that a lot of us are in the honeymoon phase, what do you think?

The model I used as an inspiration for the slides is based on the work of Faberow and Gordon.

Journaling is one of the simplest anti-anxiety practices - decluttering your mind of all that excess and tangled thoughts.

And reading to nourish your mind 💭

So simple and works like a charm, once the muscle is there ✔️

One of the hardest thing to do, sometimes 💭

- Issac Asimov
In all the world there is not one exactly like me.
Everything that comes out of me is authentically mine because I choose it...
I own everything about me, my body, my feelings, my mouth, my voice, all my actions whether they be to others or to myself...
I own my fantasies, my dreams, my hopes, my fears...
I own all of my triumphs and successes, all of my failures and mistakes...
because I own all of me.
I become intimately acquainted with me...by so doing,
I can love me and be friendly with me in all my parts...
I know there are aspects about myself that puzzle me and other aspects I do not know...
but as long as I am friendly and loving to myself, I can courageously and hopefully look for solutions to the puzzles and for ways to find out more about me...however I look and sound whatever I say and do, and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time is authentically me...if later some parts of how I looked, sounded, thought and felt turned out to be unfitting, I can discard that which is unfitting and keep the rest and invest something new for that which is I discard...
I can see, hear, feel, think, say and do.
I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be productive, and to make sense and order out of the world of people and things outside of me...
I own me and therefore I can engineer me...
I am me and I AM OKAY.

Virginia Satir
It's the small things that you do. How you start your day, how you nourish your body. How you talk to yourself and who you're friends with. What you soak in every single day - it all changes you. This is your life.

People often think they need to find THE WAY to live better, THE CURE, THE SOLUTION. And pretty often it’s the SUM of all that we do. Like the puzzle - it’s all in front of us, isn’t it… 💭

I hope you like puzzle 🤓
What's not to ❤️😉

•It’s dark because you are trying too hard.
Lightly child, lightly.
Learn to do everything lightly.
Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply.
Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.•

Ebbs and flows, isn’t it.. 💙

I’ve been gone for a while - busy more than ever. It’s all partly due to the pandemic. New clients and patients, a lot of them with the need for medication since at some point it’s too much to handle. Depression is a medical condition - not only a psychological occurrence - it’s a chemical, biological, and structural imbalance that impacts mood regulation.

Just thought I’ll list symptoms of depression in case you’re wondering:
➝ persistent sadness or low mood, and/or
➝ loss of interests or pleasure
➝ fatigue or low energy (at least one of the above, on most days, most of the time for at least 2 weeks)

Also:
➝ disturbed sleep
➝ poor concentration or indecisiveness
➝ low self-confidence
➝ poor or increased appetite
➝ suicidal thoughts or acts
➝ agitation or slowing of movements
➝ guilt or self-blame

But sometimes:
➝ irritability
➝ constant/obsessive focus on work
➝ higher than usual tendency to risk.

They don't need to come together, too. If you're worried, talk to a clinician near you.

Please remember it’s never a sign of weakness to seek for help. Depression is not WHO you are, it’s what is happening with you. Seek help of the mental health professional - sometimes it’s the meds combined with therapy that work best 🙏🏻

• There is no point treating a depressed person as though she were just feeling sad, saying, ‘There now, hang on, you’ll get over it.’ Sadness is more or less like a head cold – with patience, it passes. Depression is like cancer. •
