Almost 5 years ago I was scrolling through Instagram and I came across the profile of the boy with the most beautiful eyes I’d ever seen. I never imagined that he would go on to be my husband.
Our wedding day was the happiest day of my life. The love and positive energy from all of our guests was like something I’ve never experienced before. To see three worlds come together (English, Spanish and The Gays) in such shared joy was just phenomenal. As queer people we have fought hard for the right to marriage - unfortunately we can’t take that right for granted, as one day they may try to take it from us. To have the opportunity to let our straight friends and family be a part of our queer world for one night was something none of us will ever forget.
After almost 2 years of planning, I still can’t believe it is all over. I feel so incredibly lucky to have had the chance to celebrate our love with all the people we love the most, but I feel even luckier that I’ve married the man who makes me laugh all day every day, helps me see the world through a different lens and has encouraged me to be the person I’ve always wanted to be. Thanks Instagram - I owe you one.
