Jamaica is one of those places you have to experience to truly understand its magic.

I spent 10 days exploring the island—from horse racing at the Mouttet Mile in Kingston, to giving back to local communities, to cliff jumping near Ocho Rios, learning bush tea remedies from my grandma, and cooking my favorite Jamaican meals (ok, mostly eating). Every moment reminded me why Jamaica always feels like home to everyone who visits the beautiful island.

Jamaica has given the world so much—music, culture, food, joy, and soul. Now is the time to give back. Visit the island. Explore beyond the resorts. Support Jamaican-owned businesses. Donate to on-the-ground organizations. Stand with the people.

Jamaica is open. Jamaica is rebuilding. Come experience Jamaica for yourself!

Jamaica has a way of wrapping itself around your heart. As someone with Jamaican roots, it has always felt like home to me. Being there, moving through its towns, listening to people’s stories, and feeling the rhythm of everyday life is a reminder that Jamaica is so much more than a destination. It is a place built on resilience, culture, and deeply rooted community ties. (AD)

Being in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa made that truth even more undeniable. The loss is visible but so is the strength. There is grief, yes, but there is also determination, generosity, and a spirit that refuses to be washed away. Neighbors helping neighbors. To witness people whose own homes were damaged still showing up to help others was incredibly moving.

I had the opportunity to give back alongside, an organization that has served over 2 million meals across Jamaica following the hurricane. I added them to my list of on-the-ground organizations back in October, and everywhere I went, I saw their impact. From Montego Bay where I volunteered, to Mandeville, about 2.5hrs away when I visited my grandma, they were there.

Jamaica offers more than resorts and beaches, though those are top tier. I explored the island from attending the Mouttet Mile horse race in Kingston to discovering hidden gems like Island Gully Falls, and meeting reggae artists and vendors who came together for the Food, Rum & Reggae Benefit Festival

And the food. Growing up on callaloo and ackee and saltfish, then enjoying it for breakfast at brought tears to my eyes. It tasted like my childhood. Jamaica pours its heart and soul into its food and shares that love with the world.

Experiencing Jamaica changes you. It reminds us that when we are welcomed into a place, we carry a responsibility to give back. Whether through donating, supporting Jamaican-owned businesses, or amplifying local voices, every act matters.

Jamaica has given the world so much. Culture, music, joy, and soul. Giving back is not just an option. It is an act of gratitude and solidarity. To donate, click the link in bio! #explore #visitjamaica #jamaica #hurricanemelissa #donate
Another one and done for me but I did it! I may not remember his name forever but I’ll never forget the lifeguard Mikey at Island Gully Falls in Jamaica who helped me face my fears and take a leap I definitely wasn’t sure I was brave enough for. One minute I was overthinking every ā€œwhat if,ā€ and the next I was flying into the bluest water, laughing and wondering why I ever doubted myself!! šŸ’¦šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡²

Most people know Dunn’s River Falls — and yes, it’s gorgeous and iconic — but so many visitors never find their way to spots like Island Gully Falls, where the views are just as stunning and the waterfalls just as magical… but the experience feels more local, more adventurous, more Jamaica -

That’s what this island does. It’s not just the beauty — it’s the people who show up with a smile, a steady hand, and a ā€œYou got this.ā€ Strangers become your hype team and fear turns into a story you’ll brag about later.

So here’s to Jamaica — to the hidden gems, the big energy, and the unexpected heroes who help us take the leap, literally and figuratively.

Who’s ready to explore beyond the tourist guide next time?

My dog really tried to CANCEL my travel career by eating my passport the day before my international flight back to The States for work!

Luckily, I have another valid U.S. passport so I’m good… BUT I did the research just in case any of you end up with a lost, stolen, or destroyed passport while abroad:

• Contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate right away
• You’ll need to fill out a lost/stolen passport form + a new passport application
• Bring ID, a passport photo, and proof of citizenship if you have it
• If your travel is urgent, ask for an emergency passport so you can still leave the country
• Once back home (or settled), you can replace it with a full-validity passport

Even if you have a second passport like me, you still have to report the damaged one. They don’t play about their documents!

Save this for future travels — and keep your dog away from international paperwork. Trust me.

Top Tips for Whale Watching in Cape Cod

After my mind-blowing whale-watching trip, so many of you have asked for tips so here are some tips to make sure your whale watching trip is unforgettable:

1ļøāƒ£ Pick your deck wisely!
Want to get up close? Stay on the main deck (first floor)—you’ll be right near the water where humpbacks often surface. That’s where I sat and wow…mesmerizing. If you’re into photography or want that panoramic view, head to the upper deck for an amazing bird’s-eye perspective.

2ļøāƒ£ Visit during peak whale season
Whale-watching season runs mid-April to October, with June–September offering the best chance to see humpbacks feeding. If whales are the main reason for your trip, plan accordingly (there are so many things to do in Cape Cod)!

3ļøāƒ£ Morning or sunset?
Morning tours usually mean calmer seas—great for spotting whales.
Sunset cruises though? Pure magic…and often less crowded. I did a sunset tour and was completely blown away.

4ļøāƒ£ Pack smart
Layers are key! Even sunny days get chilly with sea breezes. Bring a light jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, rubber-soled shoes, and seasickness remedies if needed.

5ļøāƒ£ Respect the whales
Choose tour companies that follow NOAA/WhaleSENSE guidelines—they shut off engines near whales. Fun fact: sometimes the whales approach the boat on their own!

6ļøāƒ£ Book early!
Tours fill up fast, especially in summer. Adult tickets start around $75. Bonus— offers a Whale Check (a free return voucher) if no whales are spotted.

7ļøāƒ£ Bring personal items
Snacks, water (no glass or alcohol), books, games, and electronics are allowed. The boat ride to the whales is about an hour so you want to keep yourself entertained (or take a nap).

Trust me—you won’t forget this experience!

My FREE Natchez itinerary is in my bio!

Visiting Natchez, Mississippi, felt like stepping into a living history book wrapped in Southern charm. Perched on the banks of the Mississippi River, boasts a rich past that stretches back over 300 years, and every corner seems to tell a story.

One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the Natchez African American History & Culture Museum (NAPAC) and the iconic antebellum homes. Walking through these homes made me appreciate the craftsmanship and history that have stood the test of time.

Another unforgettable moment was visiting the Natchez National Historical Park. The views of the Mississippi River were absolutely stunning and learning about the area’s history added depth to my experience. Standing on the bluffs, I could feel the weight of the history that shaped this region.

Of course, no trip to Natchez would be complete without indulging in its culinary treasures. From the fluffiest biscuits I’ve ever tasted to soul-warming Southern classics, the food alone is worth the trip. And the live music? Pure magic. Stopping by Smoot’s Grocery and the Under-the-Hill Saloon brought the vibrant sounds of the region to life and reminded me why music is so integral to the South.

Natchez is more than just a destination - it’s a celebration of resilience, culture, and community. My visit left me inspired, full of memories, and already planning my return.

STORYTIME: I lost my future husband in Barcelona and I don’t know why!!!

This storytime is brought to you by the lovely people at Mercat St. Joseph La Boqueria in Barcelona. The food was so delicious that I chose my stomach over my future husband.

Though my heart was broken by our untimely breakup, I can smile again because Translator Airbuds make it extremely easy to find my new love anywhere in the world.

Airbuds allow you to communicate in over 40 different languages without a phone or Wifi. These airbuds are definitely a MUST HAVE for people who enjoy building connections while traveling (and/or dating) around the world. Say goodbye, adios, and au revoir to those boring translators that make it difficult for you to have real-time conversations and add TimeKettle to your packing list.

Link to purchase is in my bio.
