necesidad vital. Cocorocoq pertenece, claramente, al segundo grupo. En conversación con
Vivian Lavín en Vuelan las Plumas, Patricia Cocq —editora, autora y una de las fundadoras de la
editorial chilena— reconstruye el recorrido de un sello que este año cumple una década y que,
sin proponérselo al inicio, terminó convirtiéndose en una de las voces más reconocibles de la
edición infantil y juvenil independiente en Chile.
La historia comienza mucho antes de la editorial. Comienza en la infancia compartida entre
hermanas, en una época “en que no había pantallas”, recuerda Patricia, donde el juego estaba
hecho de dibujos, recortes, personajes y cuadernos. “Con Karina siempre jugamos mucho a
cosas muy creativas”, cuenta. Mientras una descubría tempranamente el dibujo y la ilustración,
la otra comenzaba a escribir poesía. De esa relación surgieron sus primeros libros autoeditados
y, años más tarde, el impulso definitivo para crear Cocorocoq.

Mucho antes de ser madre, ya dibujaba madres e hijxs. Mi mundo estaba lleno de ellas, gracias a mi mamá y mi abuela, cuya entrega y amor siempre me han inspirado. Aun así, nada de lo que imaginé se parece a lo vivido.
