Pra mim, fazer arte é um processo prazeroso e doloroso de me entender no mundo, de sentir a vida, de tornar na matéria paupável o que as palavras não dão conta para explicar um sentimento.
Bordar essas peças foi a única forma que encontrei para lidar com a dor. Com as minhas e de outras mulheres. Quando comecei, não pensava em vender. Bordei o que sentia pra deixar as emoções descansando na parede.
Hoje entendo o poder que isso tem. Quando a arte transborda o que vem de dentro, abrimos espaço para que outras pessoas que compartilham dos nossos profundos sentimentos (e tão humanos!), se reconheçam nela. Como disse Matilde Campilho, a arte não salva o mundo, mas salva o minuto de quem cria e de quem aprecia.
Essa série nasceu de uma investigação sobre dor, contenção, memória e reparo. Ela materializa o que atravessa o corpo e deixa marcas.
Esta semana, ‘Sutura’ encontrou um novo corpo para habitar.
Fico profundamente feliz em saber que ela agora segue seu caminho, levando adiante a força e a tensão que a constituem.
E eu sigo imensamente grata por cada encontro que a minha pesquisa torna possível.

Meu avô desenhou e construiu essa casa na década de 50, a casa é ampla, de arquitetura modernista, em área de tombamento ambiental* e fica na Vila Mariana.

Karen Vieira (São Paulo, 1987) é artista visual e vive há 15 anos em Berlim. Sua pesquisa investiga as restrições patriarcais e capitalistas impostas aos corpos das mulheres, explorando sua prática artística através do têxtil, colagem, cerâmica, fotografia e poesia.
Ao abordar o corpo como território de disputa, seu trabalho explora questões de gênero, poder e identidade. Suas narrativas visuais entrelaçam os fios dos fardos da sociedade ao criar diálogos entre reprodução, tempo e controle.
Ao questionar as forças sistêmicas que nos atravessam, Karen busca desatar os nós e o peso do tecido social, abrindo espaço para novos imaginários de emancipação através da relação entre anatomia e autonomia.
Karen é formada em Comunicação Social (FAAP), Design Gráfico (Escola Panamericana de Arte) e Fotografia. (Senac). Sua pesquisa sobre gênero iniciou-se em 2014 com o projeto autoral The Naked Lady. Em setembro de 2024 realizou sua primeira exposição coletiva no Soho House, durante a Semana de Arte de Berlim.
