I’m really proud of this collection. I’m still very much obsessed with creating pots inspired by the British Coastline, from Cornwall to Skye - where sea meets sky.
I aim to invoke a feeling of calm and reconnection to nature in my pots. You are ultimately the judge of whether I do or not.

The bottom part of my kiln got really quite toasty.
I’m gonna have to clean up some drips but overall- everything looks awesome. The glaze merge is really quite magical.

Cracks normally happen because of a difference in drying rate; the walls of this bowl dried out quicker than the base. This causes tension in the clay and it literally pulled itself apart.
I throw on batts and sometimes I won’t wire the pot through straight after I’ve thrown it. This is because I want the rim to dry out a little and ‘set up’ first which means it’s less likely to warp when I do eventually cut it off the batt.
But on this occasion I forgot and left it to dry too much. The clay couldn’t release itself from the batt and it cracked all the way through the base🤪
Never mind. Into the reclaim it goes. It will be recycled and made into something else.

Everyone has their own ways of centring their pots for trimming. So, if you don’t need to tap tap centre why bother? 🤷♀️Well there are benefits:
- It’s super-efficient, going from piece to piece quickly and easily. Saves lots of time.
- You don’t have to deal with sausages of clay that can warp your pot rims and which ultimately dry out and need to be recycled. Less reclaim is always a bonus in my eyes! 😉
- it’s cheaper than a Giffin Grip 🤣
Here are some of my top tips:
- The speed of the wheel must be slow ( approx 1 rotation per second)
- You need to get the force of your tap just right. Too hard and the pot will fly off, too soft and it won’t move.
- Practice with a heavy object first, here I’m using a glaze pot.

Someone said that this glaze looks like a forrest. That’s the power of art or craft, a piece can speak to you on a personal level. Each individual someone sees something unique to them. It transports you to a special place or a feeling.
What I love most about these bottles is that on every one the glaze movement has stopped mid flow right before my potters mark. It’s happened on EVERY SINGLE one. Thats pure magic. I’m slowly getting a new collection together, aiming to share it with you all on 5th of June. Pop it in your diary.
