幾重にも重なる花びらと、白いふち取りが印象的な「竜宮」。ふんわりと丸く咲く姿は、まるで手まりのような華やかさです。濃い色合いと繊細な縁取りのコントラストも美しく、存在感のある品種です。
小さな星を散りばめたような花姿が愛らしい品種です。花びらの縁が細かく波打つ様子は、昔ながらの砂糖菓子「金平糖」を思わせ、その名の由来にもなっています。
