After 14 incredible years, today we said our final goodbyes.
Together we shared 14 years of love, adventures, kisses, and endless cuddles. I’ll miss our early morning walks, sneaking you treats even when nana told me I had already given you too many. I’ll miss hearing your little paws race across the hardwood floor any time someone opened the fridge to try to get a taste of whatever it was they were snacking on.
You were more than just a dog to me. You were my anchor and source of comfort when life got tough. You were the one thing in my life I could rely on to always be there when I needed it most. Losing you has left an emptiness in my heart that words can’t describe.
I will forever cherish the thousands of memories we’ve made together and I am forever grateful that I got to be your mom. Thank you for teaching me what it means to be strong- I promise you I will continue to be strong in honour of you.

7 years ago today I decided to be brave and accept a bed offer to the Ottawa Hospital Eating Disorder Inpatient Program where I spent 13 weeks. By this time in my life, I had been battling anorexia nervosa for nearly 10 years. Was I scared? Absolutely. But I owed it to myself to give myself a chance at a better life because the way I had been living was slowly killing me both mentally and physically.
Fast forward 7 years- many hospitalizations and treatments later. Things aren’t perfect but they’re a hell of a lot better than they were 7 years ago. 2 days ago I celebrated being 3.5 years hospital free, and I am able to work and sustain a full time job which I never thought was possible. Of course I still have my struggles, but they no longer define me 💗 I have an eating disorder but I am not my eating disorder. I have CPTSD but it does not define me.
