Erinnerungen an Amerika – Lesung
Der eine aß mit Woody Allen zu Mittag, traf Henry Kissinger am Entmüdungsbecken und feierte mit Pelé und Mick Jagger im Studio 54. Der andere saß bei Oprah auf der Couch, war mit Gangstern befreundet und ganz kurz sogar größer als Michael Jordan. Franz Beckenbauer und Karl-Heinz Granitza. Der Kaiser und King Bomber Karl.
Zwei Fußballer, zwei Karrieren auch, die unterschiedlicher kaum sein könnten. Und die doch eines eint: das große Abenteuer USA, die neongrellen Jahre in der neuen Fußballwelt. In New York und Chicago, bei Cosmos und Sting. Erinnerungen auf Kunstrasen. Sie erzählen von den Anfängen des Fußballs in Amerika, von kreischbunten Operetten und der großen Lust am Entertainment.
So kann man aus ihren Biografien heraus einen wunderbaren Bogen schlagen, über die Jahre und über den großen Teich hinweg. Von der NASL bis in die Gegenwart, in der Fußball einen Sommer lang wieder Soccer sein darf.
Stefan Hermanns arbeitet seit 2001 beim Tagesspiegel, schreibt vor allem über Fußball und war als Reporter bei vier Weltmeisterschaften im Einsatz. Obwohl eigentlich Gladbacher, berichtet er hauptsächlich über Hertha BSC. Dadurch war ihm Karl-Heinz Granitza natürlich ein Begriff, auch wenn sich die beiden bis zur Arbeit an ihrem gemeinsamen Buch nie bewusst begegnet waren.
Lucas Vogelsang, geboren 1985, ist ein Kind der Bundesliga. Da es zum Fußballer aber nicht reichte, wurde er Autor. Seitdem hat er für den Tagesspiegel, den Playboy, Welt am Sonntag und den Stern geschrieben und mehrere Bücher veröffentlicht. Darunter auch „Zeitlupen“ und „Nachspielzeiten“. Denn der Fußball schreibt die besten Geschichten. Er konnte einen Henri-Nannen-Preis, einen Deutschen Reporterpreis und mit der Autorennationalmannschaft, am Ende doch auf dem Platz, die Europameisterschaft in Rom gewinnen. Während der WM 2014 lebte er in Rio. Und als Götze gegen Argentinien traf, tanzte er am Strand der Copacabana.

Berlin ist berüchtigt für seine braven Partys und hemmungslosen Demos. Und deshalb kommen heute alle in die Hauptstadt. Nicht um miteinander zu sprechen, sondern um gegeneinander zu demonstrieren. Ein Professor, der mit seinem Smartphone für sein Recht auf ein analoges Leben kämpft, renitente Rentner, die sich für eine günstige SB-Bestattung einsetzen, Berliner Ur-Einwohner und Touristen aus Oberbayern, seltene Kita-Kröten aus dem Bionade-Bullerbü des Prenzlauer Bergs. Doch was machen die alle ausgerechnet im SPÄTI von Wolle?! Und dann ist da noch dieser Sonderling Friedrich Merz, der Wolle erklärt, er solle noch länger arbeiten, obwohl sein Späti bereits 24 Stunden geöffnet ist: „Ja, der Tag hat 24 Stunden, Herr Wolle, aber wenn das nicht reicht, müssen Sie eben noch eine Nachtschicht dranhängen.“ Das ganze Panoptikum des Landes in einem kleinen Kiosk.
