Decades of dreaming to finally be standing there.

Machu Picchu was one of those places that I couldn't believe I was finally seeing with my own eyes.

Here are some tips and things you might not know about visiting Machu Picchu (save this post for later!)

- You don't need to arrive at the crack of dawn. In fact, the fog might clear a little later in the day! I visited around 11am.

- You don't need to do the 4-day hike (unless you want to!). Take the Vistadome train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. Then, take a bus to the Machu Picchu entrance.

- You must bring your passport with you!

- Book your Machu Picchu ticket a few months in advance as only a limited number of tickets are issued per day.

- There are 10 circuits for Machu Picchu and it's a little confusing to know which one to choose. I took Circuit 2 where you can walk the upper and lower areas with the most amazing views. This is the most popular choice. Multiple circuits also means you can visit multiple times for different experiences and treks.

- You might see llamas roaming around the ruins! We saw so many!

- I visited at the beginning of November, which was a great time of year to travel there. Not busy and the weather was wonderful.

- Spend some time in Aguas Calientes after visiting Machu Picchu. Go for lunch, enjoy a coffee, shop at the markets. Even though it is touristy, it's a lovely place.

Do you have any questions about Machu Picchu for me? I'll try my best to help answer them!

We came to bowl and stayed for everything else!

Hamilton has just had a glow-up. It’s the ultimate entertainment centre to gather with your friends and loved ones. It’s a fun night out, all in one place!

Did you know…Splitsville is the only bowling alley in North America where you can wear your own shoes? No more ugly bowling shoes (unless you want to…and in that case, they still have shoe rentals available!).

There are 34 lanes of 10-pin bowling, a massive video game arcade, a restaurant, a bar and a second-floor loft with the best views. You can order food and drink straight to your bowling lane.

We loved the arcade with all the classic games we know and love, plus new ones we’d never played anywhere else.

For a limited time only, use my promo code LAURENY20 to save 20% off your first visit! Visit my profile to book your Splitsville visit today! Expires 3/5/2026, see for more details.

Let's go for a vegan walking tour of Toronto, plus the fun shops and cute cafes along the way!

We had soooo much yummy food and drink, plus loved the bookstores, handmade art, vintage wares, and everything we saw along the way. ✨️

We'll start at Tsuchi Cafe on College Street and end at Sushi Momo on Queen Street West.

TSUCHI CAFE
Japanese plant based cafe with food, coffee, tea and the most delicious and beautiful desserts. (And the bathroom even has a Japanese toilet, the besssssst!)

ARTS MARKET
Shop handmade, vintage and wares by Toronto artists, we saw so many cute and wonderful finds

FLYING BOOKS
One of the best bookshops I've visited in a while! Awesome selection.

STEFANO'S DINER
Vegan cafe that we adore, we ordered the mozzarella sticks (not pictured), cappelletti, stacked foccacia sandwich and fried chicken sandwich

PENNY ARCADE
Lovely vintage shop with a retro photo booth at the front of the store

BAD ATTITUDE BREAD
Vegan bakery with freshly baked treats, I had to pick up one of their vegan tiramisus to bring home

HOPELESS ROMANTIC BOOKS
The best smutty bookstore 💕 no Shane or Ilya sightings, unfortunately

ICHA TEA
We bought matcha, banana iced coffee, and adorable little sticker sets!

SUSHI MOMO
Vegan sushi restaurant! Miso soup, mushroom tartare, soba salad, krispy rice and sushi rolls, an amazing end to our day!

Thanks & for such a fun day!

This is a travel experience I'll never forget!

I was selected as 's ambassador for their Warm Water on the Go program.

This helps rural families near Cusco, Peru by providing them with solar powered water heaters.

Having regular access to warm water means better hygiene, comfort and health, especially for those living in remote, colder climates like those in the Andes mountains of Peru.

I was honoured to take part in a ceremony at a small Andean village to present the solar water heaters.

I had the opportunity to meet the community leader and local families, seeing firsthand the impact this program has on their daily lives.

The best part? For every Peru trip booked, TripToGo donates $10 to the Warm Water on the Go program!

So, you can feel good about helping local communities when you travel there.

What are some ways that you give back when you travel?❤️

2025 is a wrap! Happy New Year everyone! 🎉

I wanted to do a little recap of my travels in 2025. I chose my favourite trip each month.

In some cases, I didn't travel much at all or stayed close to home in Ontario. Since we own a home, it's great to enjoy it. I did quite a bit of gardening this year, and I always love hiking here in Ontario, too.

This year, I did a few bucket list trips! We finally went to Japan and that was definitely a trip to remember for the rest of our lives. Justin and I loved it so much.

I finally got to visit Peru and Machu Picchu! I haven't shared too much about that trip yet, other than on my stories, but I'll be sharing so much about it.

Plus, there will be a video coming out about my time in Peru, captured and produced by the New York Times Advertising! I am beyond excited to see it and share it with you.

I wrapped up the year with a trip to the Christmas markets in Germany, Austria and Slovakia. I was dying to return for more Christmas market fun since my visit in 2023.

JANUARY: Vermont girls trip with &

FEBRUARY: 2 weeks in Japan with Justin! Best trip ever!

MARCH: Mexico City vegan tour with

APRIL: Recharging at home with some day trips in Toronto / Ontario

MAY: Enjoying spring in Ontario, worked on a fun day trip to Niagara Falls

JUNE: Saskatoon for the conference, celebrating my birthday with awesome travel bloggers!

JULY: Summer in Ontario, Canada. Took a memorable day trip to Beausoleil Island with

AUGUST: Thunder Bay, hiked the Top of the Giant, a 23km epic bucket list hike with

SEPTEMBER: Grand Rapids with Justin for ArtPrize, I always wanted to experience this epic art competition and it exceeded all my expectations

OCTOBER: A river cruise in France with

NOVEMBER: Peru with & the amazing crew!

DECEMBER: Christmas markets trip to Cologne, Aachen, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Vienna & Bratislava with

Follow for more epic adventures in 2026!

York Region is an amazing place to visit for the holidays!

Here are my top picks for Christmas and festive events for the holiday season.

NIEMI'S CHRISTMAS MARKET
It's one of the best traditional Christmas markets in Ontario. Take a stroll around the outdoor and indoor Scandinavian holiday market that features up to 60 vendors.

FESTIVE NIGHTS
It's a unique opportunity to visit the Village at Black Creek at night, wandering through streets beneath the moonlight. Visit historic buildings and enjoy classic holiday traditions, stories, live music, Christmas choirs and tasty treats.

SLABTOWN ARMOURY
Slabtown Armoury has a Christmas cocktail menu with so many delightful drinks, plus they make gingerbread cider, just for the holidays.

UNIONVILLE
This historic village is magical for the holidays! Main Street and the shops are decorated beautifully. It's the real life "Stars Hollow".

These are the prettiest Christmas markets in Ontario and they're still happening in December!

SPIRIT OF THE SEASON (Guelph)
Dates: Dec 5th-7th, 12th-14th
Admission: Free!

There's an outdoor Christmas market with wooden stalls, an indoor Christmas market, roaming entertainment, fire pits, and downtown Guelph looks SO beautiful with the storefronts and buildings all decorated and lit up!

ELORA CHRISTMAS MARKET (Elora)
Dates: November 14th - December 21st (Wed-Sun)
Admission: Free!

While the outdoor Christmas market is small, it looks so gorgeous with the wooden stalls, fire pits and lights. The whole village is decorated so beautifully, and arrive early so you can visit the local shops, too!

OTTAWA CHRISTMAS MARKET (Ottawa)
Dates: November 21st - December 31st (Fri-Sun, daily from Dec 26th-31st)
Admission: Free!

Twinkling lights, wooden booths, festive decorations, food and drink, handmade wares...what more could you want from a holiday market! It's not to be missed.

DISTILLERY WINTER VILLAGE (Toronto)
Dates: November 13th - January 4th (closed on Christmas)
Admission: Free, except Thu-Sun after 4pm and Dec 11th-31st ($15)

It's the OG Christmas market in Ontario. Toronto's Christmas Market, the Distillery Winter Village, has wooden stalls, food and drink, dazzling lights, and it's in a charming setting.

Top tip: Arrive earlier on a weekday for free admission and fewer crowds. If you want to see the lights without the crowds, go after it closes! It's free and beautiful to see. Otherwise, expect crowds and pack your patience.

What's your favourite holiday event in Ontario?

Justin surprised me with an exciting adventure! #ad

The Corolla Cross is the perfect everyday vehicle that gets you to every destination in style and comfort. Fun fact: My Toyota journey started in 2010, and I’ve been a fan ever since!

The two of us headed to the small town of Creemore to visit its quaint shops, restaurants, and cafes. Then, we ventured over to Hoggs Falls, a beautiful waterfall that I'm pleased to check off my bucket list.
