Why? Because colour retention! Mold! Often times when flowers are kept whole for pressing (especially white or light ones) they brown or mold. The flower as a whole contains too much moisture and leads to unhappy results.
The art of bouquet pressing is not for the faint of heart, it takes lots of hours, lots of love and meticulous movements. It can be tedious but so rewarding when you open your press to find perfectly pressed flowers. And even more, when they’re white! A mighty task.

I took almost two years off social media when I went on maternity leave, it was like a weight had been lifted off of me. After a while, I didn’t even think about it anymore. It definitely didn’t help my business by going dark. But wow, did it help my mind.
I am grateful to this platform for allowing me to preserve flowers for over a decade now. I’ve built my business from it, I’ve connected with so many wonderful clients, florists, farmers and local businesses because of it.
In all that said, I’m trying to get back to why I started JUST B SMILING in the first place — because I loved pressing flowers, not because of an algorithm.
