It’s been almost a year since the farmhouse has had snow. In reflection…2025 was quite the year for #warehouse and myself and I’d like to THANK YOU for hanging in there with us as we navigated a new way of life after 17 years. We set up at our last vintage market in January at the Big Red Barn and closed the book on my beloved Junk Style design, emptied the warehouse, sold both of our condos in California, purchased a new condo in Northern California…and I’m happy to say, that we are still standing. Looking forward to relaxing and reflecting in the new year…and getting back to the farmhouse. Happy New Year you guys!!
Almost a year ago we closed the book on Junk Style design. Even though I’m not out buying for y’all on a regular basis I still feel joy in visiting thrift shops, flea markets, small antique shops and the fields of Round Top. Yesterday while out and about, much to my surprise, I found 7 Homer Laughlin platers and this lead Angel candle holder. I really didn’t “need” either item but that didn’t stop me from realizing they needed a place in my home…and that’s what happens when vintage still speaks to your heart.

(See yesterday’s stories for a glimpse of the platters)

May the joy of Christmas settle in your heart today and always.

Merry Christmas.
Even with the light sprinkles and mist…we managed to gather for our annual Christmas photo on the front porch of the big house on the bluff in Santa Cruz. Our little Christmas miracle came as everyone of our grandchildren were able to be there…for the first time in forever we gathered as an entire family. As our older grandchildren have grown and gone off to live their own lives we are beyond blessed and thankful they are able to find their way home again. Tradition…the heart and soul of the family. ♥️

At our very last PopUp last December I planned to sell my architectural angel…a personal piece of mine…knowing it wouldn’t fit in our new town condo. My sweet angel never did find a home…and since some things are meant to be…she now sits happily on our back porch.

I baked my last batch of Christmas cookies yesterday and have just a few more gifts to wrap. We’re getting ready to head to the big house on the bluff in Santa Cruz to celebrate Christmas with our family next weekend. Ever since our first of five children had a family of their own we decided to celebrate the weekend before Christmas. As our children’s families grew we knew we had made the right decision. They now make their own family memories and #warehouse and I quietly celebrate Christmas Day together and reflect on the beautiful family we blended over 35 years ago.

The gathering of memories…my grandma’s white plastic deer, another box filled with collected bottle brush trees…and who remembers the story behind the THINK sign??? #iykyk #andhavebeen #following #foraverylongtime.

We arrived in the dead of winter and we will leave tomorrow in the full flush of spring. We marveled at the snowy wonderland nature created for us within days of our arrival. I closed the book on Junk Style design without fuss or fanfare at the during the winter show and completed a life we lived and enjoyed for 17 years. We went back to Long Beach briefly for my 6 month mammogram and came back to TX in the knowledge I was cancer free for at least another 6 months. We extended the garden another 10’ and I happily planted more flowers than vegetables. We watched as our blue birds took up residence again and a huge colony of purple Martins soared and swooped around the Martin house but sadly didn’t stay…I will continue to wait patiently. We experienced our first Round Top Antiques week without the hustle and bustle of gathering our favorite things to share but contentedly experienced it in a whole new way. I tried to keep up with Instagram but failed miserably trying to figure what to share and so I just didn’t share much at all knowing when the time was right I’d start up again. Our new town condo closes May 14 so we will be leaving our sweet farmhouse for the season. We will be leaving as my garden is in full bloom and #warehouse’s trees are filling out into the most glorious canopies. We will close up our old girl, give #major one last hug and step off the porch tomorrow for California…to the home where our children and grandchildren are. Our sweet season with family will pass and we will be back here again as summer ebbs into autumn…and our old girl will be waiting with open arms…once again.

On August 16, 2024 I announced to you all that I would be closing the book on my beloved Junk Style design after 17 years. (That post is my second pin if you’d like to read it) Yesterday we had our very final show at the Big Red Barn in Round Top TX. So I can finally say…we quietly and without fanfare closed the book on Junk Style design.

It’s been a beautiful journey filled with amazing folks and amazing junk. I’m proud of what I accomplished and thankful to all of you for hanging in there with us over the years. We’ve been through a lot together.

Remember…nothing is lost, only changed my friends. I will still be here. My posts may be a bit different but the essence of who I am will still be here.

Thank you for seventeen amazing years of Junk Style design…it’s been the joy of my life.♥️

Linda
Junk Style design has been the true joy of my life. However…after our fall/holiday popups in Mission Viejo we will be closing the book on the small business I gave birth to and have loved dearly for 17 years.

I’ve always wondered if I’d ever be ready for this day…although emotional, I am content with my decision…so yes, I am ready after all these years. I will continue to hold in my heart all I’ve accomplished and each of you.

From those early days when we had no idea what we were doing to the ridiculous early mornings setting up at the to the glory days of beautifully curated shows at, and to the popups it’s been a true honor.

We have met the most incredible folks along the way. Folks that have become family to both Chris and myself. The amount of hours put into setting up for a show or PopUp is overwhelming…and to work beside a group of folks who share in that…well you can’t help but become family.

It’s also only natural after so many years shopping the fields in Round Top that vendor folks become friends. Some have passed on now…and they are missed. Others have become the true and dearest of friends along the way. Folks that will remain friends long after this book is closed.

After the last of our popups in Mission Viejo are over…I will continue to maintain this account…and continue to share our life with you from our Texas farmhouse. So nothing is lost only changed my friends. I love our morning chats over my cup of tea each morning and the support you have shown me through the years…I never want to lose that. A small business does not survive without friends like you so thank you from the deepest part of my heart for always being there for us. We’ve been through a lot together the past 17 years…and I will be forever thankful for that.

I’m hoping you will search us out at our fall/holiday Mission Viejo popups for one last piece of Junk Style and for a hug of gratitude from me to you. Remember…nothing is lost, only changed my dear friends.

With love,

Linda ❤️
