✨ First up - Kirpi restaurant
Kirpi started in 2002 and now has several spots around Istanbul. You’ll find everything from healthy bowls and omelettes to hearty brunch spreads with fresh salads, eggs, toasts, pastries and more. I love their Galataport location, especially the terrace that provides a lovely Bosphorus view 💙
🍽 Second - Big Chefs
Big Chefs is a classic for a rich mixed breakfast - the spread usually includes eggs served many ways, fresh breads, cheeses, olives, seasonal fruits, pancakes, and more. Their Moda location is my personal favourite and especially recommended if you’re after a breakfast with a great view over the Marmara - perfect for slower weekend mornings by the sea.
🥞 Finally - Cook Shop
I love how Cook Shop brings variety and comfort together. Their menu offers everything from menemen and sucuk menemen, croissant breakfasts & pancakes to poached eggs with avocado & muhlama - great for those who like classic breakfast plates with a twist.
Again, my personal preference falls for the Galataport spot - great views combined with a delicious kahvaltı 😋🫠

If you’re wandering the historic, colourful streets of Balat, Forno Balat is the kind of place that makes you pause - part bakery, part cozy brunch spot, part old-Istanbul acquaintance. I have visited it several times and love coming back for its charm, flavors, and vibe.
Their breakfast concept changes with the week: on weekdays they serve a mixed/serpme breakfast, while on weekends you’ll find a full open-buffet brunch - all with homemade breads, pide, organic jams, cheeses, hot pide or lahmacun, fresh breads, croissants, and more.
👉 Bonus tip from me: try their apricot-tahini soufflé - it’s an absolute gem that’s worth the visit alone. 💎

Well, this post is not about the typical lavish Turkish breakfast but about a place that offers one of its staples - the simit 🥯
When it comes to old-school Istanbul charm, Galata Simitçisi in Karaköy is everything. This family-run bakery has been delighting locals and visitors for 30+ years, keeping its tradition alive in a cozy little shop ❤️
Their star is (obviously) the simit - freshly baked in a stone oven over wood fire, just like it used to be. What makes it so special is how simple yet versatile it is: you can enjoy it plain, or go for combinations with cheese (feta or cream), tomatoes and cucumbers, or a full mix of toppings. They even offer simit covered in sunflower seeds 🙈🌻
But the bakery is more than just simit - they also offer other pastries, muffins, acma, and savory buns.

I finally visited the Nişantaşı branch of Çeşme Bazlama Kahvaltı back in May, and it’s honestly one of the richest and most flavourful breakfast experiences in Istanbul. 🫠 The interior brings the warmth of the Aegean region to the city — everything tastes homemade, fresh, and full of love. 💛
The breakfast spread includes bazlama bread, gözleme, endless house-made jams, cheeses, olives, and unlimited tea — all beautifully presented. 🤍 Their concept allows for ordering extra pieces of all breakfast goodies, and the best part: it’s all included in the price 🙈 But my absolute favorite part is the pişi — golden, fluffy, and addictive. I always order extra. 🤭🤤
The interior is just as charming — bright, cozy, and full of Aegean vibes that make you forget you’re in the middle of Nişantaşı. It’s a well-known and very Instagrammable spot, but trust me, it’s famous for a reason. 🥰💝

I’ve been to Van Kahvaltı Evi three times so far, and every visit reminds me why it’s one of Istanbul’s most beloved breakfast spots. The food is authentic, hearty, and full of flavor — just like a real breakfast from the Van region in eastern Turkey. 🌿🇹🇷
The true main character here is the kaymak — unbelievably creamy, served with honey, and always something I order extra of. 🍯🙈 The best one I have ever tried,hands down 🙇🏻♀️ Everything feels homemade and genuine — from the cheeses and olives to the menemen and fresh bread. 🫠🧀🫒🥖

I’ve been coming to Mums Cafe for years (I feel like the staff remember me by now 🤭), and it’s one of those places that never loses its charm. Hidden in the heart of Karaköy, on the beautiful Fransız Geçidi, it’s cozy, gives hygge vibes, and is full of that familiar morning buzz that makes this neighborhood so special.
My absolute favorite order here is their Simit Bowl — a perfect mix of textures and typical Turkish flavors. 🥰🥯
I still haven’t tried their traditional Turkish breakfast (shame on me 🫣), but knowing how fresh everything is (they have their own bakery!), I’m sure it’s fantastic. Their breads, pastries, and baked goods are always top-notch — you can literally smell the freshness as soon as you walk in.
Other meals worth mentioning & trying are: their Granola - super tasty & nourishing; Menemen - you can add sucuk, cheese to it and the bread they serve with it is just 🫠; Çılbır - poached eggs, sucuk & garlic yogurt, so good 🤤; French toast - just the perfect amount of sweetness 😋🥞

I’ve been to Mahal Antep at least 6–7 times, and this fact alone tells you everything 😁 (they need to start paying me commission at this point 🤭). This spot near Galataport serves one of the most generous and authentic Turkish breakfasts in Istanbul — think eggs in different variations, börek, Antep cheese plates, kaymak with honey (bal kaymak), homemade jams, endless tea, even katmer! and many more delicious bites 😋❤️
💸 The price is 1100TL per person - yes,it’s a bit pricey, however, what isn’t pricey in Türkiye at this point 🥲
📍 Karaköy, just steps away from Galataport and Istanbul Modern — cozy, lively, and perfect for a slow morning with a view.
