The food that and his team create is nothing short of incredible. The photos here don’t do it any justice, scallops were massive, beef was so tender, and the desserts were very bold and fresh. I think all ingredients were local to Skye, some directly from their kitchen garden.
The room was big, warm and very comfortable. The breakfast next day was amazing too, classic scottish fare crafted beautifully, can’t beat it.
There’s a reason this place attracts awards, about time you found out why.
Here are four places I’d recommend staying:
The pods are well equipped with everything you need for self catering and are off the beaten track making it a very tranquil spot to rest your head.
Best for: couples or small groups
Highlight: the hot tub after a long day exploring
Tip: enjoy a slow morning with breakfast from local producers
_____
A stylish hotel that prides itself on quality. The Wild Garden (outdoor sauna) looks gorg.
Best for: those looking for luxury, and golfers
Highlights: the view from the restaurant is outstanding
Tip: head out for a walk to the beach
_____
A cosy hotel that has Scottish fare at its heart.
Best for: affordable comfort
Highlight: the beautiful grounds
Tip: we spotted white-tailed eagles on the way here so keep your eyes peeled!
_____
Your home away from home, hosts Graeme and Emma Clark go above and beyond.
Best for: a special occasion / memorable experience
Highlight: the food and hospitality is exceptional
Tip: go hungry to breakfast and DEFINITELY add the whisky to your porridge - it’s their specialty 🥣

As one door closes, another opens, and Tost has taken no time at all in getting the doors open to welcome us all to their new speciality coffee, matcha and brunch spot in Aberdeen city centre.
Located on Upperkirkgate, this spot may look familiar to some as it was previously Milkjug, although it has been bought over by a new owner, and has a shiny new menu and concept. But don’t worry, you’ll see some familiar faces as most of the lovely team have been kept on.
Now I don’t know how they do it, but wooooah boy that strawberry matcha with strawberry foam is utterly bonkers. Never mind the Angus cheesesteak, which blew both our minds. I’m so glad we shared because I would have had such food envy.
The menu boasts around nine dishes with everything from acai bowls, porridge, toasts and sandos available. There are veggie and vegan options, too, and all the cakes and bakes are homemade. The portions are hefty making them great value for money.
My best advice would be to share with those you’re brunching with for the ultimate brunch feast. I’m already eyeing up the club sandwich and curried chickpea toast.
Hannah (the manager) and Lucy looked after us today and were so warm to chat with. I spotted that Lucy, and I have the same cardigans so she made me feel like 10 years younger, thanks, Lucy.
I think there’s great potential for this to be one of Aberdeen’s top brunch spots and with a little time to settled in, I’m sure they’ll have the place feeling super cosy in no time.

Thanks so much for giving me the kick I needed to get my butt to in Rosemount.
Oh my daaaaays were those bagels good or what!?
I’ve already been told I need to go back for the tuna melt and the halloumi bagels so looks like a return trip is already on the cards 🤣🙌
Where do I need to visit next? 👀

(And watch until the end if you’ve ever wanted to see a snowball smash off my face 🤣🙃)
We visited a few spots I’ve been keen to try out for a wee while as well which was fun. I’ll share more about those soon but I’m already planning a return trip to Rosemount to shout about all the amazing businesses so please tell me your favs in that area x🫶

And when I say an army, I mean AN ARMY. If you haven’t been down to see the gazillion snowmen cutting about the park, then all I’ll say is go during the day because it’s hella spooky at night seeing them all. It’s like they are watching you 👀.
and I also decided to embrace the madness by adding our own snowman (hey Fred 👋), and had a snowball fight.
It’s crazy how quickly the weather can change with the snow coming and going, but man is it beautiful.
And how amazing are the sunsets at this time of year, too? 🥹🌅

The kindest, most gentle and generous heart. Plus he’s pretty damn handsome 😏 x
I am lost for words on this one.
There’s nothing more I love than telling stories, especially about Scotland’s food and drink scene. It is a great privilege to get to spend time with chefs, business owners, producers and the like and share their stories with this incredible community we’ve created online.
I truly did not expect this but it really does mean a lot to be recognised. I’ve worked so hard on top of everything else to share those wonders of Scotland with this audience and to hear first hand from businesses how much of an impact my content and stories have had on their businesses has genuinely almost brought me to tears.
We sell out restaurants, give those new spots the lift they need to get money in the till, create in-demand dishes that can’t come off of menus and give people even more of an excuse to shop and support local. Thank you to every single person here. It’s you guys that have allowed this to happen and I will be forever grateful.
A huge congratulations to all of the finalists and winners, and a special shoutout to the other creators in the category. You guys are amazing.
And thanks Hayley from for giving me the most INSANE compliment: “Scotland’s very own Nigella Lawson”. A girl can dream 😂
Here’s to our country being home to some of the greatest spots and food on this gorgeous planet 🏴

I honestly wouldn’t have even dreamed something like this could happen to me, but to be sitting having dinner with for the absolute babe that is to then to join us at is absolutely insane.
I can’t put into words what an experience it was. I’m terrible at keeping secrets so ensuring I didn’t let the cat out of the bag (and kept my gob shut) was so important to the production team. When my pal phoned and asked if I could lend the production company he was working for at the time a hand I never dreamed it would result in me sitting alongside the sweetest sweet that is Julie Lin and dining with the main man himself. I am speechless, ish.
If you’d had told me I’d be pitching businesses and on calls with the SFF team in New York taking about how best to showcase Scotland (the areas they were visiting) I’d never had believed you.
And I still kind of don’t. To see some of the businesses I pitched feature has been so rewarding. Featuring on Netflix can change their venues in ways unimaginable and Scotland looks mighty good!
Can I just say the JULIE & JULIA TV food show is a must. / let’s make it happen 😉
A huge thank you to the SFF team, to Phil, Ryan and Richard, and to Will and the best TV sister I could ask for Julie ♥️ You all made this experience one I’ll never forget.
Shout out to the other venues involved in the filming 🙌

He was visiting ahead of the launch of his new menu concept at the hotel. He, and the excellent team, have crafted something quite brilliant. The menu is very much about reconnecting, whether that be with the local larder or with each other. There’s a lot of sharing elements, which was challenging to showcase to someone dining on their own, but I certainly got a flavour of what they are moving forward with that’s for sure.
Expect to see more on this on soon, and we’ve even got a light-hearted video that I know you’ll all love. All I can say is Michel is a real sport for getting involved. If you’re a subscriber to the food and drink newsletter, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about! 😉
