A decade on, we return to The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong with a lighter, more considered touch. Rather than rebuilding, this refresh focuses on continuity, and refining the elements that endure, while intervening where it matters most. Floors are sanded and restained, doors preserved, and materials carefully extended in their lifespan, reflecting a more sustainable approach to renewal.

Rooted in the quiet domesticity of Hong Kong’s New Territories mansion homes, the narrative unfolds through layered references to countryside facades, birdlife, and landscape textures. These influences are translated into evolving digital artworks across wallcoverings and carpets, where patterns shift and develop over time.

New prototypes and material studies sit alongside archival moments from the 2016 renovation, revealing a dialogue between past and present
Walking into the studio of COX London felt like stepping into a working world of ideas. Chandeliers, prototypes, material tests, everything visible at once. A place where you can trace the journey of a piece from thought to form.

Spending time with Chris Cox and Nicola Cox, the process felt open and fluid, ideas moving between conversation, sketch, and making without pause. We were joined by Chris’s beloved hounds, unperturbed at every juncture, whether in assembly, finishing, or machining stations.

Our visit was a testament to the collaborative nature of our best work. I wondered how many years it would take to become accustomed to all the creative making… never, I don’t think.

A visit just north of our studio to view a sculptural install by in progress for our upcoming Mandarin Oriental, The Landmark Hong Kong launch.

From sketch to metal, watching the work take shape was a reminder of how much thinking sits behind every detail. It felt like entering a design emporium of chandeliers, showcasing the incredible genius of Chris and Nicola.
The studio is layered with work in motion and finished pieces alike, each one carrying its own sense of character and experimentation.

Even at this early stage, you can begin to see subtle references to Hong Kong’s flora emerging through the work… More to come soon!

A growing presence in the heart of Hong Kong.

Within a single block in Central, three of our interiors sit within sight of each other on Queen’s Road Central; spanning hospitality, retail and members’ club. Together, they form a trilogy in the heart of HK.

1. Landmark Mandarin Oriental
2. Hearts On Fire
3. Club Bâtard

Each space is distinct, yet connected through a shared sensibility- material richness, rigour in detail, palpable atmosphere and subconsciously, a rich rouge seems to paint their personalities. A colour tied to prosperity, energy and celebration, grounding each project in its context.

This summer, we continue the story.

Our reimagining of Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong introduces a new chapter, spanning arrival, amenties, café, spa, gym and suites.

More to come.

Did you know there’s a thrift store right by the Blue House that takes your time as its currency? Helping change a lightbulb for your elderly neighbour or taking someone to the doctor earns you spending credits. A tradition that speaks to the uniquely neighbourhood-vibes and community spirit of the Blue House precinct.

When we first moved here, we found ourselves feeling a belonging to this neighbourhood to then feeling pride when we got to know its people. And today, feeling we earned bragging rights by having a seat at the table of the annual community 團年飯 - Tuányuánfàn.

To celebrate the beginning of a New Year on the Chinese calendar, the Blue House courtyard puts together a feast under a lantern and moon-lit evening. Attendees are representative of the diverse shopkeepers, residents- the people who give life to this neighbourhood.

At the end of March we celebrated togetherness and abundance. Some shots of Lorraine, Vivian and I digging into the festivities, Where our reach in today’s digital age is vast and infinite, there’s something heartwarmingly human about belonging in our uniquely small precinct.

At the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Sha Tin Racecourse, Genso brings a new dining hub designed for feeding and entertaining guests as they enjoy live racing.

Led by, the two-floor space reimagines the classic racecourse through an eccentric, retrofuturist lens. Inspired by Tokyo’s Golden Gai streetscapes, manga and the cinematic glow of neon-lit scenes, the interiors unfold through lighting, lanterns and ceramic tile artwork.

Created in collaboration with Foreign Policy, the visual identity is rooted in detail, echoing street signage and manga culture. Each space pairs food and drink with arcade-style activities, all set against views of the racing below.

In the final chapter of our series, BLOOM, we trace the organic unfolding of our studio’s renovation, how the pieces began to fall into place.

From the creation of our beloved material library to the vibrant energy of cross-team gatherings in our newly renovated studio, every moment marked a step in our making this space into our new home.

We captured the laughter, the shared vision, and the special bonds forming over time.

This final film culminates in a site-specific project that stands as both a tribute and love letter to Hong Kong - a city that inspires, grounds, and defines us.

Hong Kong is not just a backdrop, but a vital pulse of our practice. We are here, rooted, blossoming and sowing seeds near and far.
