The Metro Universidad station, one of the main transit points for students, families, and residents of southern Mexico City, has been inaugurated with a work by Jorge Rosano Gamboa.
The natural and architectural conditions of the campus serve as a conceptual reference for Jorge's work. His pieces explore and connect the transformation of landscape and its memory, as well as the dialogues and integrations between human structures and natural landforms.
Drawing on the guiding principle of UNAM, Jorge seeks to expand the spirit through knowledge. His work activates a visual cartography that transforms geological records into a profound aesthetic questioning of our permanence in space and of everything that is no longer with us.

“Mook (nudo)” by Jorge Rosano Gamboa was the special artist-edition paddle commission for the Seventh Terremoto Auction, available during the night of bidding.
A graduate of La Esmeralda and SOMA, Jorge Rosano Gamboa has presented solo exhibitions in Mexico, Berlin, London, and Paris, and his work has been featured in art fairs in Korea, Spain, and France. He has also been selected for two editions of the Photography Biennial.
This year, he joins the now-iconic tradition of Terremoto paddles with an edition of 34 pieces, produced as a giclée print on cotton paper with a PVC support.

Rooted in photographic thinking, Jorge’s practice approaches the image as trace, residue, and memory—an encounter with absence where what remains is often spectral and suspended. Through conversations on process, temporality, and the act of registering, he invited artists to attend closely to what appears, disappears, and lingers within an image.
We are deeply grateful for the depth, generosity, and quiet intensity he brings to dialogue, and for the way his perspective expands our shared understanding of the image as both presence and ghost—an ongoing site of contemplation within the residency.

The exhibition also introduces the image of the road as a metaphor for both movement and rootedness. In this liminal space, the landscape is experienced in motion—as flow and constant transformation: the volcano’s fumaroles, the clouds, the rain. How can one capture the ephemeral nature of such shifting forms? In this pursuit, the artist approaches the figure of the contemporary shaman, one who mediates between the visible and the invisible, between matter and light.
