Huge congratulations to our founding partner on winning the FAD Architecture Award 2025 for the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute!

This project is a true example of making city, transforming the hospital campus into a vibrant, connected park that bridges neighborhoods and brings people closer to nature and science.
A thoughtful, sustainable architecture that serves science, people, and urban life.
A recognition of Catalan architecture through a project of great elegance and precision.

Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) - Vall d’Hebron Institut de Recerca
A building hidden in the landscape.

The new VHIR centre marks the beginning of the transformation of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital Campus. Designed as an embedded volume in the hillside, the building disappears beneath a garden roof that extends the natural slopes of Collserola into the site. Only one façade is visible, a subtle fold in the topography that defines the lower square.

Concrete dominates the interiors, tinted with the colour of the earth to merge with the mountain.
Three courtyards and long terraces link laboratories with nature, generating quiet cloisters for encounter, reflection, and exchange.
A research building, but also a gesture of continuity between city and mountain.
VHIR.
