I used to call Jonathan my little Georgia peach, and when I was signing Kyle’s adoption papers, the shelter brought a dog named Peachy into the room to hang out with us. It felt like a sign from Jonathan.
Losing Jonathan so unexpectedly was incredibly hard, and it really made me realize that time together is never guaranteed. I hope you’ll continue to share new moments with us, we’re going to give Penelope and Kyle the best golden years they never even knew to dream about while they waited in the shelter.

Jonathan lived many lives; he survived a kill shelter, lived four years passed his diabetes diagnosis when most dogs don’t make it to 60 days. He traveled all around the world, he raised money for animal shelters, de stigmatized canine diabetes, and brought awareness to critical issues for animal adoption and safety through hundreds of millions of press impressions.
I could not be more proud of him. And I also could not be more broken right now. Because at home he did just as much to save me. We grew up together, he made me make better decisions, he was my steady during my own health struggles and recovering from surgeries, he would literally lick away my tears and panic attacks. He was there through career changes, when I met my husband, buying our first home. Literally there, always with me wherever I went.
Through this I want to thank you all for being on the #journeythan with us. I am so appreciative of this community that Jonathan brought together. Your love, humor, and positivity have been such a highlight of my life, and I hope you all carry it forward now after Jonathan. For anyone I should have told personally, I apologize that this is how you’re learning; I have not had the strength to call people who deserved that.
