But still the humble chair - is there a household without one? The chair has always been iconic from designers like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Noboru Nakamura, Hans J Wegner, Arne Jacobsen,Ray & Charles Eames and Gilles Lundgren to name just a few.
I am sure I am not the only person fascinated by the humble chair. An abandoned chair, a pile of chairs, beautiful delicate C18th chairs, modern design chairs to an old wonky wooden chair.
I photograph chairs all the time in all kinds of situations. Be it in a chateau to an upturned boat - a chair, stool or bench in perfect condition to falling apart.
Just a series of chairs on yet - yes you know what I am going to say - another wet grey dreary day in Provence!

The warm butter yellow glow of the stone that you find here is much needed with the continuous rainy days here in Provence.
A city, unlike many provincial villages does not go into a sleepy slumber in the winter. Slowly discovering new places to eat and have a coffee and trying not to spend too much money!
I am also lucky that one my favourite people lives here and we get to meet each other for lunch.

A reminder of humanity - a reminder to be kind. A reminder of of how many great and brave women there are in the world. A reminder to myself that we need human connection and how every little voice needs to be heard. We mustn't let fear and hatred take over.
I love photographing people and it's a reminder that I need to do more of it.

We don't normally associate those adjectives with Provence, but there it is. Unfortunately my own mimosa tree which had grown so much, did not survive the frost and although not dead will not be bearing me any flowers this year. Very sad.
So as a consolation here are some Mimosa flowers bought at the Eygalières market by my mother - also in the pouring rain!
Candles and mimosas - something to smile and feel grateful about.

Some of you might remember that I was working in Paris last October and now I can reveal after the launch party a few days ago the new Paris City Guide by in collaboration with.
It was an absolute pleasure to work on this from museums to restaurants, boutiques to antique markets, parks to food markets. There are places that I know, others I discovered and the most exciting part was visiting places after hours when you have the whole place to yourself - especially the museums.
Here are just a few photographs of what you can expect to find inside. Now available to buy on the website. A lovely edition to any bookshelf and perfect to carry around on your travels to Paris.

If I take the French way of wishing everyone ‘Bonne Année’ until the end of January, I am not too late at all!
I know that more than ever we need kindness in this rapidly changing world and I do believe we need to lean into creativity, authenticity and compassion.
“To accomplish great things, we must not only act but also dream; not only plan but also believe.” - Anatole France -
After a much needed break from social media and work over Christmas, I am now back. The last few weeks has done wonders for my mental health. I have had some wonderful creative moments with my daughter from baking Christmas presents, to making our own Christmas cards and crackers for the table.
I am not into New Year resolutions. I think most of us have a hard enough time getting through the Winter months. However I have been in book heaven and devoured 3 books in the last two weeks including Elif Shafak’s book ‘The rivers in the Sky’ which is once again beautifully written. Then I reread ‘The Secret Commonwealth’ the second book of the Phillip Pullman series The Book of Dust’ and the final one which just came out ‘The Rose Field’. I couldn’t put them down and enjoyed reading instead of watching a film.
Now I’m bereft and don’t know what to read next! Any suggestions welcome!
So having left my little bubble I am off to Paris on Thursday for the first of my trips in 2026.

Today the rest of my family arrived from London and Romania. It is time to do a bit of 'Wintering' inspired by Katherine May's book.
I will be hibernating over the Christmas break, to spend time with my family. A moment to hunker down and take a break from the outside world.
So it just leaves me to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year and see you all on the other side. xx

Everything has a story to tell. It is room that has been decorated over time. Sometimes, almost always, it is worth waiting for the right things.
Once again appreciating the small things and how much I love our home. It's a good place to curl up with a book and something I plan to do a lot of over the Christmas break. What about you?

The calm after our first Open Studio yesterday. Thank you to everyone who came. We will also be open next Saturday for those who didn't have a chance to pop by.
I seem to have a flurry of new followers so welcome to my page.
Our home is lit by candles and sparkling Christmas lights every single night. I even managed to find an advent candle this year. I am not sure whether I am getting more joy from it or Poppy!
I am trying to slow down and ease into December. Not easy but after a calamitous series of events this week, I think the universe is telling me to surrender to some quiet time!
What is bringing you joy at this time of year?
Finally does anyone have any recommendations of where to find some old ribbons in France or naturally hand dyed ones?
