What a year ✈️✈️✈️ So long 2025, here’s to more adventures in 2026.
What’s on your bucket list for the new year? I’m already planning trips to Paros, Abu Dhabi, Antalya and Bucharest but am still desperate to visit Capadoccia, Marrakech and Lisbon/Porto among many others πŸ₯°
I’m also planning that 2026 is the year I finally relaunch Jetset Jen. I still have so many trips I haven’t shared on my grid yet including Puglia, Menorca, Mallorca and Turkey plus some big life updates. Watch this space

I’m back! Today marks one year since I last posted on Instagram. I never meant to stay away so long but it really has been a crazy year. First the pandemic hit which put a stop to travel and therefore content creation, then it felt a bit insensitive to post travel photos. When borders starting opening I chose to stay home not only because I was worried about spreading Covid but also because I found out I was pregnant! Unfortunately pregnancy didn’t treat me very well but we were lucky enough to welcome our second son just as the UK was hit with a new strain of Covid and went back into lockdown. The last few months have been a blur of sleepless nights and that newborn bubble and then I realised it had been a year since I posted. Even now I’m unsure whether to continue. As hard as I worked to build up this amazing community and love taking photos, editing them and sharing tips with you guys I’m not sure I’m ready for the feeling of disappointment when a photo your really proud of tanks and you end up comparing the β€˜performance’ of your posts to others (even if you know they do this full time while you fit it in around freelance work, nursery runs and never-ending nappy changes). So what do you think? Should I come back and did you even notice I had gone? Does anyone else relate? I’ve missed you guys x
Watch more Netflix than sunsets. Words I never thought I'd say but if we can save lives by sitting on our sofas watching TV then let's take one for the team guys!

Anyone got any show recommendations or fun things they're doing to keep busy in isolation? I've so far watched The Crown and Sex Education (love both), done #PEwithJoe every morning with my little boy (I'm aching today), started listening to audiobooks (This Is Going To Hurt is very apt as it's by a hilarious and very overworked NHS worker), discovered podcasts (try for Insta tips) and I'm trying to learn more about Photoshop and editing on YouTube.
Here's an attempt at a sunset sky replacement from my visit to the #PlazadeEspana in #Seville which I know isn't perfect but we've all got to start somewhere right?! 🀣 πŸ“Έ

Oh Italy. We will meet again when all this is over. Did you have to cancel any trips since the Covid-19 outbreak and where are you dreaming of visiting soon?
I hope this rainbow image brightens your day if you're stuck inside. #Burano is such a happy, colourful place and is definitely worth the day trip from #Venice for its quirky houses, amazing waterfront restaurants and lace museum

Sending love to all my followers around the world and hope you're keeping safe? I'm currently self isolating in the UK after a quick trip to Seville just before the situation in Spain escalated. I had naively thought Spain was one of the "low-risk" countries to visit but with the way it spread so fast I have now cancelled my upcoming trips to Switzerland and France and it looks unlikely my trip to the tulips in Amsterdam will go ahead next month. If we all stick together and do what's best for those most at risk hopefully we can beat this together and look forward to exploring our beautiful world once more when it is safe to do so. How are you feeling? What's the situation like where you live and have you chosen to stay home too?

Is Coronavirus making you reconsider travel plans? I have to say I have been a little worried about booking too far in advance not knowing how and where it will spread next and what restrictions will be in place by then. I had been considering booking a cruise but with so many countries on the itinerary I do wonder if it's riskier than booking one destination. I have already booked Seville and Basel/Colmar in March and Amsterdam in April (can't wait) but am unsure whether to plan any further in advance? What are your thoughts? Are you erring on the side of caution or do you think it has been blown out of proportion?
Here are a few tips for my fellow travellers (though I'm no expert):
1. Always buy travel insurance in case the destination you're travelling to is affected by Coronavirus and you have to cancel/postpone your trip. However, if no offical travel advice has been issued you may not be eligible for a refund. Look for a CFAR (cancel for any reason) policy and one that includes travel disruption cover in case your flight or hotel bookings are cancelled.
2) If you have booked a trip and are worried, check with your airline. Many are willing to offer alternative routes or postpone the ticket for free if you are travelling to or near an affected area (eg Milan which is close to the sites in Northern Italy).
3) When booking accommodation, try to find ones with a generous cancellation policy so you have the option for a full refund closer to your trip if the situation changes.
4) For plane travel, a US study found picking a window seat in the middle of the aircraft would reduce your risk of infection. Pack disinfectant wipes for the tray table, belt buckle and TV screen and regularly wash your hands and use sanitizer. Make sure you cough or sneeze into a tissue and flush away.
5) Don't panic. Stay informed from reliable sources and follow the most recent health and travel advice. For the UK that's the Foreign Office

Sending love to those affected and this post is in no way intended to incite fear. Just sharing my thoughts. If you have any more tips drop them below πŸ‘‡

#ad If you could live anywhere in the world where would you pick? One of the scariest but most amazing decisions I ever made was packing up my life 13 years ago to move to Dubai where I got my first job on a women's magazine, which then led to me living and working in Australia and Switzerland before returning to Dubai and starting a family out there. To my fellow expats, make sure you take the HSBC Expat Explorer survey (link in bio) to share your experiences and help others take the leap. And if you're considering the big move, stay tuned for the results of the survey to see how different countries and territories compare for all aspects of expat life - personal finance, education, childcare, the lot. I’ve now returned to the UK but I feel so grateful for the life-long friendships I made along the way and the experiences that enriched my life. Join me in filling out the survey and grow the expat community!

Photo tip: This shot was taken from the beach at the sister property to the #Burjalarab. Even if you're not staying there you can grab a cocktail at the beach bar Ocean Blue for this amazing sunset view

Would you dare? Swipe left for a video of the view from this loo. After seeing photos of this little overwater toilet online I was surprised when I arrived at my overwater villa and the bathroom was (thankfully) a little more private. It was only on the last day when I booked in for a massage that I realised this is part of a huge private spa villa surrounded by a wooden fence so the only ones watching are the birds and the fish. Have you ever experienced anything quirky like this?

Breakfast of my dreams. Having a floating breakfast has been on my bucket list for so long and it finally came true in the #Maldives with this gorgeous #IndianOcean view. What's your favourite meal of the day and where did you enjoy your best meal ever? This has to be up there for such a unique experience.
