ā€œThe achievement of one goal should be the starting point of another,ā€ - one of my Instagram captions in 2016

I personally LOVED 2016. It was the year I opened my idea of who I was beyond an elite level cheerleader. It was the year I finally let go of the ā€œbe skinny and have abs,ā€ goal and fell in love with training for how it made me feel (as opposed to it being a punishment for how I looked). It was me realizing going vegan might not be as impossible as I thought it was (I was vegetarian at the time and went vegan in early 2017). It was the year I completely changed my relationship with food and saw that the impacts my food choices had on the world were so much more important than the calorie number I was previously obsessed with.

And it was the beginning of my ā€œlonely,ā€ chapter as Chris Williamson would put it. I was journalling, reading, meditating, following non-traditional people on social media, and expanding my perspective of what is actually possible in this life. It was the start of changed priorities, friend groups, relationships, the province I was living in… She saw beyond what her environment yielded and bravely sent it into the unknown. I’m so proud of her.

ā€œA lion won’t lose sleep over the opinion of sheep,ā€ - another one of my Instagram captions in 2016. It’s not possible to break out of the norm without judgement from others. The lioness doesn’t concern herself with the opinions of sheep. 2016 me was smart.

First week of 2026. This year feels fresh. Light. Silly. Happy. Fun. Like everything I spent time building in 2025 has created space for me to revel in it. The habits, the strength, the endurance, the connections, the self love, the systems, the network, the security.

This year is going to be fun šŸ˜šŸ¤

Because scribbling it in pretty colours all over my white board wasn’t enough, let me obsess over this quote a little more.

I’ll say it again, 99% of people won’t know 99% of your story. You have to do it for you.

I’m still completely shook at how I rose up to this level when it felt like the entire universe conspired to test my character. Very few people know the extent of the hell I endured last year and will only see my accomplishments. And that’s okay. I’m proud of me and that I can look back and say I did it.

Now for a much lighter and vibrant 2026. I accept nothing less ✨

I initially was planning on using the Sam Barber song ā€œman of the year,ā€ for this post because I had it on repeat in December. Buttttt it just didn’t fit the mood anymore.

The days are getting brighter. The year has changed. And my energy reflects both of those statements.

I’m getting my spark back. You can bet on that. 2026 is going to be a better year šŸ’•

It’s occurred to me that no matter how much you overshare or post online, 99% of people aren’t going to see 99% of your story anyway. You have to do it for you.

I walked into 2025 with the theme of putting my head down and working hard. Intentionally stepping out of the spotlight because I intuitively knew it wasn’t my time to shine.

I didn’t travel. I didn’t date. I didn’t put much effort into events. I just wanted to build. Build my businesses. Build myself as a strong athlete. Build my calisthenics community. I knew this work would go unseen, but I was driven to do it regardless.

Then life hit. Cancer surgeries & choosing to be okay with death, if that’s where fate led me (spoiler alert it didn’t, but I did have to miss worlds). Moving three times. A false & baseless rumour being spread about me (that I just chose to ignore). My dad passing away.

It’s funny how when your identity is tied to your hard work, enthusiasm for life, and energy for others, that it’s so easy to lose yourself when life demands you to pull back. One of the biggest blessings I didn’t know I needed was seeing speak on this. Having someone without your work ethic tell you it’s okay to slow down is sweet, but they just don’t get it. But hearing it from someone who has bootstrapped his business as much as I have mine, and understands the loss of identity you feel, I felt seen.

So here is me, way less than 100% in the year 2025. And holy shit I built, hosted, and competed in BC’s first freestyle calisthenics provincial competition in spite of it all. And then I did hyrox lol.

Looking forward to finding my spark again in 2026.

To anyone who has read this whole caption, thank you. And if you relate, I see you ā¤ļø

I used to listen to this song on repeatttt during long, unconventional gym sessions, because I had a vision. So when I saw it was trending I immediately added it to my current training playlist, and knew I had to make a reel.

Back then I didn’t know what calisthenics was. Cheerleading was my whole life. I just wanted to be the best. Tbh I lost track of the number of national titles I won. I competed in 8 world championships with the Cheer Sport Sharks and 4 world championships with Team Canada Cheer. I won worlds with Team Canada in 2012.

I quit cheer in the 2015-16 season. Late 2016 I found myself playing around in gymnastics gyms to see if I could still flip. Over the next few years I followed some girls on Instagram who did calisthenics and got inspired. I started taking myself seriously as a calisthenics athlete in 2019. I’ve since befriended all the girls I followed who inspired me and I’ve competed in the U.S., Mexico, and this summer, the world championships in Spain.

I don’t often share my big successes because I believe our day to day is what matters. How I show up in each moment is either moving me towards my goals, or further from them. It’s the process that we have to fall in love with and that’s how I like to inspire people.

With that said, it’s nice to take a moment to reflect on my career highlights. It reminds me of what I’m capable of and how untouchable I am when I decide to go all on myself. None of this has come without lows and adversities, let me tell you that.

If you’re wondering if I’m hungry for more, or going for a trifecta, stay tuned šŸ˜‰
