It’s strange because during pregnancy and those early postpartum months, I actually felt more emotionally level than I had in a really long time. I expected my anxiety to be worse during that season, but without my usual cycle and hormonal fluctuations, I almost felt calmer within myself. Looking back now, I can really see the difference.
I think something I’m still learning is that anxiety doesn’t always look like panic or obvious struggle. Sometimes it’s withdrawing a little more, feeling overstimulated by everyday things, finding it harder to respond to messages, needing more quiet, or feeling emotionally exhausted trying to keep up with everything. I’ve also realised how easy it is to act like you’re completely okay because you don’t want to burden anyone, even when internally things feel a little heavier than usual.
I wanted to share this because I know motherhood and mental health can be such a layered experience, and sometimes it helps hearing that someone else feels it too. You can feel grateful for your life, keep showing up every day, and still have moments where your anxiety feels a little louder again. I’m still learning to be gentler with myself in those seasons instead of expecting myself to handle everything perfectly 🤍
