I will never forget the color at this wedding, and how beautiful that chuppah was. The florals stopped me in my tracks. And made me really take note that was doing something special here in Austin!
I also will never forget how hot it was, both the temperature and the couple. Everything was outside that day.
And then there was that dance floor.....sweaty, electric, and uninhibited. I stayed an extra hour because the energy in that tent was just so intoxicating (scroll to the end to see what I mean!). The groom shared his "inspo" playlist he made on Spotify, and it's one of my absolute favorites to this day.
Such a fun one to photograph, and such a beautiful day to look back on.

Early in the planning process, Nicole had hoped to be married in a garden. When that venue was not available, they booked the Thompson Houston instead, knowing the park across the street could give them the natural setting she still wanted for portraits.
Then, on the wedding day, another pivot came. A thunderstorm rolled in right as the ceremony was about to begin. When I arrived, the planner and I had the exact same thought. Move up the first look, cross the street before the rain got too heavy, and give Nicole and Chris those green, open, natural portraits she had been hoping for.
They had not planned on seeing each other before the ceremony, but they trusted us. And I am so glad they did.
The clouds gave us the softest light in the park, turning what would normally be a harsh time of day into something calm and beautiful. Chris brought his huge, contagious smile to every frame, while Nicole was classic, refined, and quietly elegant. Together, they were such a lovely balance.
Inside, the ballroom was transformed with green and white florals, clean lines, and a polished design that felt completely true to Nicole. One of my favorite parts of the day was watching her with her teenage daughters. Those moments had so much tenderness, and they made the celebration feel even more meaningful.

Their wedding day carried that same feeling. It was joyful and personal, with butterflies woven throughout the design.
They appeared on the invitation suite, tucked into the tables, and carried through the soft blue and green palette. Then, right before the ceremony started, my second shooter found a real butterfly resting in the wildflowers planted in front of the church.
Maddy’s mom, Tina, said it felt like a sign that Maddy’s grandmother was with them.
