She proudly announced that she was going to start joining some personal training sessions with her aunt. I loved seeing her eyes light up with hope. 💫
I whipped out my phone and scrolled back to find a picture of myself when I was clinically obese.
Both this beautiful young girl and another cashier gasped. 😮
I said: “do you know what I did when I was this size?”
They paused in silence waiting for a response. Likely expecting to hear about a diet or workout program. 🏃🏻♀️
I told them the truth.
I looked in the mirror and said to myself:
“I love you exactly as you are and I’m going to start SHOWING it.”
I explained what I meant by that.
For years, I tried every diet plan you could imagine, took fat burner pills, starved myself, and over-exercised (as punishment for the binge sessions that starving myself always led to). 🫣
I explained that I finally realized loving myself meant no longer using food as “reward” or exercise as “punishment”.
Loving myself wasn’t about restriction or control.
It was about nourishing my body, mind and soul. 🫶🏻
I stopped punishing myself with diets and over-exercising. I stopped exposing myself to toxic relationships, environments & beliefs. I stopped binge drinking every weekend and started prioritizing sleep and self care.
I realized that my life was a blessing - worthy of deep gratitude, self respect and self love. I started focusing on those things.
It all started with realizing I was ALREADY enough. ❤️
Yes, we need to take action to improve our lives but until we change the beliefs driving our actions we quit every time things get hard.
When things get hard it’s not our actions that stop, us it’s our BELIEFS. Self-destructive thoughts creep in “I can’t do this. It’s too hard. I don’t have the time.”
Your BELIEFS become your thoughts.
Your thoughts become your words.
Your words become your actions.
Your actions become your habits.
Your habits become your DESTINY.
Start with changing your beliefs about who you are and what you are capable of.
You got this. ❤️

Yes, I said “blessed with” and then listed some tougher experiences with my heath and relationship. Blessings because of my beliefs.
With my health, I am fully aware of the fact it can be taken away in a given second which is why I already cherish my body daily. I believe the value of my body is in its ability to function - not whether or not others find it attractive.
With relationships, I believe that every experience has value. I loved this time in my life.
Looking back at 2025, I hope you don’t try to label experiences as “good” or “bad” but, rather, as LIVING - and what a blessing it is to do just that. 💫
Perfect reason to wear my red heels. 👠😁
I can’t say that I’m doing great this Christmas but I can say that I’m doing my best. 🥹
Christmas isn’t easy for all of us. For some of us it brings grief, heartache and memories we’d rather forget - yet the holiday brings them to life again.
I hope that you’re all feeling an abundance of joy and enthusiasm this Christmas 🥳✨ but, for those who are just “surviving” it, I’m sending you love, light and courage.
❤️✨
I think many people will be afraid to “like” this post because we live in a society desperate to separate alcohol from other drugs.
I used to drink 20,30,40 drinks a night in my 20s (no exaggeration).
In university I worked as a shooter girl and bartender (in 2 different strip clubs - I know that fact is blowing some minds right now 😂). The job interview was “can you handle your liquor because the more YOU can drink the more WE sell”. This was before Smart Serve was a thing.
I was also a university and club rugby player and on game days we started drinking around 1pm (post game) and went until 3, 4, 5am the next day.
I once won “best individual drinker” in a university pub crawl where all sports teams were having a massive night out. I out drank hundreds of athletes.
The crazy part? This was celebrated 😱 - as if being able to poison my body better than you is some great ACCOMPLISHMENT.
I don’t regret these years - despite taking over a decade to recover physically and mentally from them. These were some of the best times of my life that created connections and memories I treasure deeply.
But I also put myself in situations that were not only disrespectful to myself and my worth but that were quite dangerous. I know I’m beyond lucky to be alive today.
I also now understand the reason why I felt compelled to drink so much:
1. I had social anxiety. Extreme nervousness around others. Alcohol made me relax.
2. I had low self esteem, lacked self confidence and I was insecure. I wanted attention from men and being in situations where I was drinking made that more possible and fed my need to feel desired.
3. Distraction - from my own thoughts and fears, from real life challenges, from the goals I knew I should be pursuing but was avoiding due to exhaustion. I felt too exhausted/depressed in these years to believe I had what it took to pursue the better version of myself I knew I was capable of becoming. Instead I numbed myself from thoughts that recognized I was failing - through conscious decisions I was CHOOSING daily.

I still remember the day you came home from the hospital. Mom and dad asked if I wanted to hold you and I said yes, nervous but excited. They put you in my lap and told me you were mine to keep. I thought “A real live baby doll!” 😂
From years of sleepovers in my room as kids to months of me living at your house as adults, I’m glad to know we will always have a safe place for eachother in both times of need and times of celebration. 🎉
Today is a day to celebrate!! 🥳
Remember that the age we are in the day we are in is always the youngest we will ever be again - so cheers to the sweet young age of 40!! Happy Birthday!! 🎈🎂
Thank you again to everyone who came out to celebrate this weekend. 🙏🏼🫶🏻

No, (bc people keep asking) I did not get the 💉 No, I haven’t been on birth control for 25 years.
So, how DID this happen? The doctors were perplexed and on a mission to figure out why. I arrived by ambulance to the ER & they kept me for 4 nights.
I saw several doctors in Spain (including a cardiologist and neurologist) and 3 reviewed my case here, their best guess:
Possibly “atypical migraine” or “a rare condition” or “a type of seizures” or the stress of completing my OSCE exams, flying to Spain and competing in an intense event (30 min 48.4 lb OAJ - 547 reps) in the heat, all in the same week, was simply too much for my brain.
I’m still battling bouts of aphasia daily and the head, ear and face pressure rises and falls, but I’m on my way back to me.
I’m in line to see a neurologist here in Canada June 24th - recommended by the neurologist in Spain as he couldn’t find an explanation for the cause and strongly insisted I have a specialist here to do further investigation.

I am also SO proud of my brother and sister. They had the same beginning as I did and they CHOSE to believe they could create completely different lives. ❤️
We are all born with greatness inside of us.
We aren’t born believing that we are not good enough.
Especially in childhood, our environment and the adults around us shape our beliefs. The most powerful change I have made in my life was changing my BELIEFS about who I am, what I want for myself and what I believe I am capable of.
It’s not easy. Thoughts, based on our present/past beliefs, will always come up “I’m not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, strong enough, wanted enough..” but you have to recognize that these thoughts are LIES based on beliefs that OTHERS instilled in you.
You have every ability to change your beliefs by deciding to CHOOSE them for yourself. This is when real self love begins.
Self love is not spa days or cold plunges - that’s self care. Self love happens when you get to a point of being equally happy with yourself on both the days where you conquer massive feats and on the days you feel like the world has broken you.
Self love doesn’t waiver. You understand that both wins and losses are a part of the human experience - not a reflection of your value. ✨
It all starts with believing that you are worthy and, often, that starts with undoing the beliefs others inflicted onto you. Listen to when that voice in your head starts to criticize and doubt you and then replace those thoughts immediately with thoughts about the person you want to be - and in time that becomes you.

I first saw James’s documentary towards the end of 2018. I was still beat up from my mountain cliff accident that happened 1+ years earlier.
In 2017, I closed my gym due to my brain injury. I felt very alone in the world. The pain in my heart was more intense than any physical injury I’ve ever endured.
At the same time I had a break up that truly broke my heart. I drove across the country and left behind the province I lived in for 36 years. My gym was gone, my community was a 21 hour drive behind me, I was single again, and broken mentally, physically & emotionally.
The only plan - to heal.
James came into my life at a time I was looking for the next chapter. I knew I needed to make my next move and when I watched him and his team conquer 50 Ironmans in 50 days in all 50 states 😱😱 I knew it was time to do something big again.
I organized 60 days of 3 hour kettlebell lifts in all 50 states + 10 provinces. It was fully mapped out with hosts in all locations, donations being made, flights paid for and a film crew ready to go. When I tagged James about this he IMMEDIATELY responded with support.
Long story short - the pandemic shut it down. I still did the 60 days of 3 hour lifts - in silence at home.
Regardless, James made it clear from the start that he saw something in me and welcomed me to his team.
When James gave this intro speech, I was back stage having my mic switched out (the 1st one wasn’t working) and when I heard him say he “saved the best for last” I felt the pressure rise. 😳
Classic James - constantly pushing me out of my comfort zone but in the most supportive way. 🫶🏼
I was TERRIFIED - not of messing up and getting embarrassed but of disappointing James. Even though he put ZERO pressure on me, the pressure was there because of my deep respect for him. To know him IS to respect him.
I will describe my actual experience later but right now I just need to say THANK YOU JAMES! Not all heroes wear capes. ❤️❤️🙏🏼
