DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:
After you measure, you can input your measurements into a wainscoting calculator to help you with placement. Painter’s tape can also help you visualize how big/many rectangles you want. [Pro tip: when figuring out the size of your boxes, take into account any outlets or light switches you may want to work around.] Use a laser level to ensure straight lines. Cut a piece of wood to the exact measurement you want to be between each rectangle (I did 4” in all directions). This uniform measurement is crucial to making the wainscoting look real good👍🏼 With your wood form, take a pencil and mark the lines of your rectangles. Measure the lines of each box and get ready to miter the trim. Remember when you’re measuring your cuts, measure from the tip of one miter to the tip of the next. I suggest putting an example by your saw if you struggle with visualizing which way to miter (🙋🏼♀️). After your cuts are made, you can Brad nail them into the wall following the lines you drew. Make sure to use the leveler on each piece. Wood fill, caulk, and paint. And voila!! A beautiful upgrade to a crappy room 😉
